Quick Quotes

Q. Talk a little bit about the round today. I know maybe not your best stuff, but you're on to match play, so...

ROSE ZHANG: Yeah, it's definitely one my goals to make the cut first, and I feel very accomplished for how I handled myself out there.

I wasn't really playing the best. I did not have the shots under my belt. It was a little bit difficult trying to manage my golf game and swing on the golf course; definitely missing a couple putts puts a little bit of burden on your golf game.

But I just tried to hang in there, and on the back nine I really tried to come back and made managed to grab two birdies, which really helps me.

Q. Yeah, on 5 and 7 I think they were. Talk about those two birdies.

ROSE ZHANG: Yeah, so my first birdie was on 5 and it was the par-5. I hit a really good drive and hit a good second shot. I had around 25 feet left on the fringe, but there was a ball mark right in front of my ball, so it was just my luck to have that.

But I just putted through it and managed to be able to tap-in birdie, which really kind of relieved me from there. I just played shot after shot after that.

And on 7 I had a really tricky break putt, 12-footer, and I managed to make that and have a great speed on it, so I think it worked out in the end.

Q. Are you looking forward to the format moving to match play now starting tomorrow since you've obviously in the last few years had success in match play?

ROSE ZHANG: Yeah, I just love match play. I think it's very unexpected. Anything can happen. Since tomorrow is a clean slate I'm going to go out there and try to play the best I can against my opponent. Match play is just such a great kind of format that I really enjoy playing, so just go out there and have a bit of fun.
