Quick Quotes

Q. Congratulations. You just knocked off a pretty big name in this field.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Thank you, yeah.

Q. How big of a win is this in your career?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: It's pretty big. Yeah, it was very good. Good match.

Q. You had to kind of obviously fight your way in this morning.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. How did you sleep last night? Were you nervous overnight?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, we got to bed early so got a good night's sleep. I don't know. Just excited to get back out and see if I could get that spot, and I did.

Q. Is it a little bit of -- I mean, I know you're facing a No. 2 seed, but is there a little bit of an edge of playing a few holes this morning?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Not really because the pins were all different, yeah.

Q. But you got a feel for what the conditions are like.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: A little bit, yeah.

Q. What they were like this morning. Plus you get a little lathered up, a little competitive juices going in the morning.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: You do, yeah. That was good. It was very good.

Q. A little bit different wind today, too than the last couple days, right?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah. Some of the holes played like quite short; others played quite long. Just different all the way round what it did the other two days, but it was good.

Q. Did you know much about Asterisk's resume?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: We have gone against each other last year in the Oz vs USGA.

Q. Oh, you played down at Sentry World.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Did you play her?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: I didn't play her, but we played in the foursomes and four-ball, yeah.

Q. So you got a taste of it.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. So you knew her reputation a little bit.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Was there a little bit of an underdog mentality you took out there today?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, a little bit.

Q. When you're facing somebody that's got a pretty deep resume, high up in the ranking, what do you say to yourself?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: I don't know. I'm just happy. Yeah.

Q. Just happy?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Proud of myself, yeah.

Q. Have you played USGA stuff before?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: No. It's my first one. I've been here for two months.

Q. Just traveling around?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Coming to college in the States?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: No. I decided not to, yeah.

Q. So you're going to just do stuff in Australia and eventually turn pro? What's the plan?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Plan is turn pro next year, probably come over here to the LPGA Q-School.

Q. Okay.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, that's the plan for now.

Q. What have you been doing over the last two months, just traveling around playing golf, vacation?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, pretty much playing golf. Started at North & South. Qualified for this actually in Florida. Been staying with Sarah Jane and Duane Smith. She's on the LPGA.

So they've got a house in Orlando, which we're all very grateful that they take us in.

Q. How many Aussies are there?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: There was heaps at the house, like 11.

Q. 11?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Six boys, five girls.

Q. Oh, man.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Some of them have gone; some are still here. Yeah, and then played the Western, yeah.

Q. Women's Western; did you make match play there?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yes, I did, uh-huh.

Q. How far did you go?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: 16th. And then Canadian Am; now I'm here.

Q. Any familiar golf courses you played like this in Australia?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: It's pretty similar to what you get in like Melbourne. I'm from New South Wales, but I do play in Melbourne quite a bit.

Q. Melbourne is Victoria, right?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: It is, yeah.

Q. New South Wales is Sydney area?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Sydney, yeah.
