Q. First off, congratulations. You played great today.

ARIANNA LAU: Thank you.

Q. 64 seed heading into match play. Talk me through -- now you made it to the quarterfinals with a chance to make history. How are you feeling?

ARIANNA LAU: I was just hoping to make -- get a spot in match play, and yeah, I just really cherish this opportunity to play such a good event and just learn, just play, perform well.

So, yeah, I'm really excited.

Q. That's awesome. (Wind interference.) ...this experience.

ARIANNA LAU: Just grateful and amazing because U.S. Women's Amateur is like one of the (Wind interference) I look forward to the most because it's such a strong field and every one plays (Wind interference.)

So, yeah, I really enjoy playing this course as well. It's a very windy course so, yeah, I learned a lot.

Q. You should be proud of yourself. Talk to me about that win today. How did you deal with the different conditions?

ARIANNA LAU: Yes, it was quite windy in the morning and even more in the afternoon, so I just tried to stay really patient and stick to my game plan, not make too many mistakes.

Q. Do you feel like you played a little bit safer with the wind conditions today? Were there any times where you felt you needed to be aggressive despite the wind?

ARIANNA LAU: I think I knew par was a good score because it's very hard to make birdies in the wind, so, yeah, I just tried to like, yeah.

Q. Yeah, that makes sense. Do you have any experience with this type of wind or windy conditions like this in other events?

ARIANNA LAU: I don't play a lot of links course. I have played in a lot of (Wind interference.)

Q. Talk to me about this is your second U.S. Amateur appearance and you surpassed your performance from last year. What does that feel like? Is there anything you'll take into the quarterfinals?

ARIANNA LAU: Yes. (Wind interference.) I can see myself grow a lot. (Wind interference) a lot of tournaments. I'm going to college soon, so, yeah, really happy to see my own growth, and to be able to perform well in a USGA event, I will continue to cherish this opportunity.

Q. Northwestern, right?

ARIANNA LAU: Yes.

Q. Anything you'll take from these high caliber championship events into your experience at college? Do you feel like this kind of prepared you for that environment?

ARIANNA LAU: Yes, definitely. I think in college there is a bit more match play tournaments also, so because it's not (Wind interference.)

Q. Last question: Did you know that with your performance today you're actually now exempt into next year's event?

ARIANNA LAU: Oh, really?

ARIANNA LAU: Thank you.

Q. How does that feel knowing you'll be able to compete next year in this event?

ARIANNA LAU: It feels great. Hopefully next year I can -- like after my first year (Wind interference) more mature.
