Eila Galitsky

Quick Quotes

Q. First USGA event obviously.

EILA GALITSKY: Yeah.

Q. What kind of made this experience for you so far?

EILA GALITSKY: I mean, the views, number one. Love the views out here. The wind is definitely fun, but I just love the golf course. I like how it suits kind of my game with the 90-yard-wide fairways.

Yeah, I mean, it's a new experience playing in this wind. I'm enjoying it.

Q. When you say the wind is fun, do you like a challenge like that on the golf course?

EILA GALITSKY: Yeah, I mean, I think it would be super boring if everybody just, you know, fairway, green, made the putt for birdie. This one is like, okay, you hit the fairway. You are got to flight down your second shot. It's 100 yards. You're playing in almost like 140 yards.

It's a lot more thinking and it's a lot more fun.

Q. Any past championships or events you feel like you can draw experience from playing out here this week?

EILA GALITSKY: Definitely last year -- or this year's SECs. We had to play match play for a championship. I know it's as a team, but you're still playing individually, so just -- at least I got to play a lot of match play in college, which kind of helped me with this, yeah.

Q. Seems like it was a pretty tight match all day today, too. Is there any way you keep your composure during that or anything special you do while you're working through that?

EILA GALITSKY: Well, hopefully they didn't get a lot of it on TV, but I was pretty mad out there. Missing three-foot, four-foot putts is not -- got me going a little bit.

But I was aware that I was angry and I was frustrated, and I kind of put myself back to like a center and, I don't know, I just calmed myself down somehow.

No, I was furious out there today.

Q. Couple of the other a little athletes talked about this wind is making you stay patient.

EILA GALITSKY: Yeah.

Q. How hard is that to sometimes remind yourself the wind can sometimes cause something like that?

EILA GALITSKY: It is definitely very hard because, I mean, as a pretty good golfer I would say, you're not --

Q. You're a very good golfer.

EILA GALITSKY: I'm not really used to missing so many short putts, maybe like one or two a round. But back nine today I missed like, I don't know, five, six, so it was definitely very hard.

If anybody really knows me, they can tell you that I'm not the most patient person, so it was definitely a challenge for me to stay patient.

But good thing I had my assistant coach. He was walking with me the whole semester so he kind of like understood what my tendencies are and he kind of got me back into it, yeah.

Q. Early enrolling, I am sure that wasn't an easy thing, you're hopping right into college golf once the season came around. When you were looking for a caddie was he an easy choice because like you said, he was around you a lot as the season progressed?

EILA GALITSKY: Yeah, I mean, when we were walking together on the golf course it was -- like during college, I felt really comfortable having him around. I just asked him if he wanted to caddie for the U.S. Am and recruit. He's here for recruiting and just happened to caddie for me.

Q. Moving into your quarterfinal, is it excitement? Is it nerves? How are you feeling in general heading into tomorrow?

EILA GALITSKY: Feel pretty good. Going to head out and work on my putting right now just to check everything, see if everything is square, online. Get some rest and feeling pretty good going into tomorrow.

Q. Last question: Not sure, but do you know that making it to the quarterfinal gets you exempted into next year's event as well?

EILA GALITSKY: I did not know that. Yeah, that's awesome.

Q. Obviously just taking it in now, but how does that feel?

EILA GALITSKY: It feels great. I don't know where it is next year, but I'm sure it's a very nice golf course.

Q. Tennessee.

EILA GALITSKY: Tennessee.

Q. A little closer to South Carolina.

EILA GALITSKY: Yeah, not too far from me. No, I'm excited.
