Quick Quotes

Q. Biggest moment of your golf career. Can you just kind of put it into words, what today feels like for you?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, I don't think I fully let it soak in yet, but I definitely knew going into the day that I had what it takes. I've been playing some really solid golf the last few days, and anything can happen on this golf course in these conditions.

I just left it to that, and went out and played my own game.

Q. What does a win in general like in the quarterfinals feel like? This is the farthest you've been in a USGA event. Talk me through how that feels.

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: It feels awesome. I mean, like you said, I've never made it this far in a USGA event. This is definitely one of the biggest moments of my career, and it's super exciting to see my game -- how it compares to the world No. 1. I'm there. Like I have what it takes to be right there with her.

So I'm really proud of myself for that.

Q. You definitely do. Going up against the top ranked amateur in the world, were there nervous heading into this match?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, there were, but I always just reminded myself that -- I get a lot of my confidence from my preparation and practice, so I always remind myself of the shots that I've practiced and all the shots that I've hit in my life and I'm just like, this is just another day on the golf course.

That's how I approached pretty much every shot.

Q. You feel like that repetition gives you the confidence out on the course?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, absolutely.

Q. Seems like typical conditions out there today, some crosswind. Can you walk me through that part of your game and how you work through that?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Going to school in Kansas I'm used to the windy springs and late fall and the cooler temperatures. There were definitely some holes that kind of caught me off guard, but overall I think my caddie also helps me kind of judge and pick lines out for the wind.

But I'm used to just kind of flighting it down and having it kind of penetrate through the wind. You kind of just have to visualize and draw it up this your head, and I do a really good job of that.

Q. Last local caddie standing. Talk about that relationship and how that's been an advantage for you this week.

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, Robin is super laid back. I think it's helpful he always talks about something that's not golf related. That definitely helps on the golf course.

But I kind of just do my own thing and he is just there to hand me the club, hand me the putter when I need it, wipe my clubs.

It's nice to come back to the bag and have just not golf on my mind.

Q. Absolutely. On 18, so you went into 18 1-up and obviously went out in the hazard. Talk me through how you were feeling in that moment and from there how you recover mentally from something like that.

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, so I hit my second shot and it just -- the wind just didn't take it. I was on a sidehill and I pretty poorly judged my lie. How was it going to come out and everything.

But I kind of just, I don't know, it just came off right. I was like, I got to go chip it in. Hit it good shot and just tapped in my birdie.

Q. Good recovery.

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah.

Q. As far as staying composed for tomorrow, is there anything that you feel like you'll do to reset mentally or stay in the moment?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah. I'm playing Brooke tomorrow and we're both from Missouri, so that's kind of a cool coincidence.

We never really played junior golf together, but we have played a few amateur events against each other so it'll be fun.

I'm just going to go into tomorrow with the same mindset: One shot at a time and knowing that I have what it takes to win.

Q. Do you feel like it makes you more comfortable knowing that you've already played against Brooke or kind of have that Missouri tie?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: I wouldn't say comfortable, but I would just say it's just another match.

Q. Do you ever allow yourself to think at least in this position, like what could be ahead for you?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: I try to stay pretty present, but, yeah, it's definitely exciting to know that I'm one step closer to holding the trophy.

Q. Last question from me: Just if you can give a few words to describe this experience that you've had this week. I know you're still soaking it all in and took that long walk back from your 20-hole match, but what does it feel like?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: It's pretty breathtaking. Like I would just say the golf is amazing, the views, and just the experiences and memories that you have.
