Quick Quotes

Q. Congratulations on a win. I mean, 4-down after 11 holes after she made that bomb on you. What are you thinking at that point?

MEGHA GANNE: I was kind of like -- well, I don't say exactly what I was thinking, but you can imagine.

I think I was a little bit flustered in that moment because I felt like I was gaining some momentum after I went back to 3-down on 10.

I reminded myself that I have literally won so many matches from 2-down, 3-down, 4-down. Matches start on the back nine no matter what the score is turning onto the back nine.

Reminded myself of that and how many times I've done it. Today is no different.

Q. And on 13 she missed the short birdie putt. It seemed to be the one that kind of pushed it open.

MEGHA GANNE: Yeah, a little bit. That was the first putt I've seen her miss all day and it wasn't that short. Her putting was beyond impressive. Any time she was around the green or near it I knew I could mark her down for a two there.

Q. She hadn't trailed in a match until you won this match all week.

MEGHA GANNE: Yeah. Yeah, that's insane. That's very impressive.

Q. You had talked earlier in the week about how sometimes when the momentum gets going you just kind of build it. Did you feel after you made 3 and then 2, did you feel like momentum going? Did you finally start to believe like I am going to be able to do this?

MEGHA GANNE: I think something that I've been trying to work on is not to like really buy into the whole momentum thing. Momentum is something you create in your head.

Obviously if you can ride the high of it it's good, but if you rely on it you will not play well in the times you don't feel as though you have momentum. I didn't feel like I had any pretty much the whole day if I'm being honest.

I think like not relying on that feeling and just knowing that -- like you don't tell yourself a story. All you need to do is just go hit good shots and something will happen for you if it's meant to be; today was meant to be.

Q. Was it déjà vu? When you were 15 you got to the semis and it was a 19-hole match that didn't go your way.

MEGHA GANNE: Yeah.

Q. Did you flashback to that and say, this is not going to happen again?

MEGHA GANNE: I wasn't flashing back exactly to the shots I was hitting, but I was thinking about how at the time, I was 15, I was playing Albane, who was a senior, a rising senior at Stanford. At the time I thought the world of her. I was like, there is no reason you should think bad of yourself right now.

If you told yourself at 15 this is where you would be you would be pretty proud of yourself. I was like, you're exactly the type of person that could make this happen right now. Let's just go do it.

Q. Back in the Women's Open next year no matter what happens tomorrow.

MEGHA GANNE: Yeah, that's pretty exciting.

Q. Was your last Women's Open Olympic?

MEGHA GANNE: I played Lancaster.

Q. What is it about those USGA championships that bring out that extra gear?

MEGHA GANNE: I think good fields really motivate me. Strong players. USGA course setups, where they chose the venues, how difficult it is and what a test it is mentally and strategy-wise in your golf game.

I think those always bring out a lot of good players that have a lot of love for the game and love the grind. I think they're just great championships.

Q. This week you've seen all kinds of weather.

MEGHA GANNE: Yeah.

Q. It's been a grind. Tuesday, no wind; last three days been playing in true Bandon Dunes weather. That's tough physically and mentally, isn't it?

MEGHA GANNE: Yeah, it is really tough. I think I've really -- I've played in a lot of these but I'm really impressed by the level of play that I feel like has gotten better in the last two, three years.

Like I played with Asterisk Talley and Catherine Park in stroke play and three top 20 players this week. Just seeing the amount of shots that I've been like, wow, I would be impressed if a LPGA Tour pro hit that. I don't know if that's being captured on TV or by the scores. Some of the scores are ridiculous, and I'm really impressed with the state of all the golf I've seen this week.

I think it's been really fun to watch.

Q. You mentioned your opponents. That's probably taken a lot out of you to beat players like that. What's your energy right now?

MEGHA GANNE: It's pretty low, but, I mean, I know the adrenaline will be sky high, so I'm not worried about the energy tomorrow.

Q. You guys played 36 holes in college a lot.

MEGHA GANNE: Uh-huh.

Q. Have you played a 36-hole final before?

MEGHA GANNE: No, I have not. This will be the first one.

Q. How do you think that will be different than playing a 36-hole day in college?

MEGHA GANNE: I mean, this will be a lot more exciting. (Laughter.) We do, we do. We play like -- we play a good amount. It's usually like cold and rainy and I have schoolwork to do at the end of the day.

I've got none of that to deal with so I think I think might be a little better.
