Q. I believe this is USGA championship No. 122. I was wondering if you could talk about the significance of being in another one.
CAROL SEMPLE THOMPSON: Well, it is pretty significant because I haven't played that much in recent years, and it's really nice to receive an exemption to play here. So I've got one more badge that I can give to the USGA for my locker and Hall of Fame.
Q. How much more special might it have been being in your hometown and being able to have all this friends and family?
CAROL SEMPLE THOMPSON: Well, it's been great having some friends and family here. Even though I didn't play well, they were still willing to cheer for me when I had a par.
Q. Was this group with you all 18?
CAROL SEMPLE THOMPSON: Yeah, I think most people were out there -- well, some didn't come until the back nine, but there was another group yesterday who came and followed me all 18. I've had lots of friends out. It's been nice.
Q. Have there been any highlights this week or really any highlights in general?
CAROL SEMPLE THOMPSON: With my golf? It's hard to find highlights. However, I did get it up-and-down out of a bunker on my last hole today for a par.
Q. That tall bunker right there?
CAROL SEMPLE THOMPSON: Well, I hit it over the green and got it up-and-down. So that was a highlight for me.
Q. Was there anything else you want to add maybe just about what everything might mean to you in the grand scheme?
CAROL SEMPLE THOMPSON: Well, I think this is a terrific championship. I really love seeing the more mature women play. I'm proud of the USGA for having it.
