Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: Even par today. A long time coming, you've been waiting for this day to truly defend your championship. How did it feel?

LETA LINDLEY: It was good. It was a scramble out there, but I piped it right down the middle on the first tee like a champ, so I was really proud of that.

I did a lot of good things. The greens were tough. There were some really tough pin positions. Greens are firm. Rough is up. Scrambled a few times. Had an oopsie but really feel like I did a lot of good things, so maybe this is my scramble round. So I hung in there and don't feel like I hurt myself too much, and I'll just build from this.

Q. The greens are the defense of this golf course; talk about what you saw out there, hole locations today.

LETA LINDLEY: Well, even when starting on No. 1, I put my ball in the wrong spot and I was like, wow, that's a really great pin. It was really tough. It was right on a ridge.

You really do have to be in the fairway. I hit a couple good shots on a par-5 on the back side, I forget which hole that was, and I just got into the rough, and I got a little flier, and then I ended up going over the green and making bogey, and I'm like, wow, I hit a lot of really good shots on that hole and walked away with 6.

It's really going to be about that precision and really getting the speed of the greens. I hit some really good putts and they just didn't match, my line and speed, so that's what I'll be working on today.

It was a great test today. I worked hard today, and I'm proud that I got in at even par.
