Quick Quotes

Q. Walking off the 18th green, top ten finish under your belt, what is the overwhelming feeling you have about your game right now?

GEORGE McNEILL: Overall I feel good. After the last two days, yesterday and today, obviously something I've been working on all year is my putting. Didn't really make any putts over the weekend. Missed quite a few putts that I should have made. Probably made a couple that were a little longer than I expected.

But overall my ball striking is pretty good. I feel decent with all that. So hopefully it'll continue and I again, continue to work on my putting and see better results.

Q. So you played with Harrington mostly this week. What impressed you most about his game?

GEORGE McNEILL: Padraig, always been a world class player. It's not like he just showed up one day. He's won I forget how many majors on the regular TOUR, British and PGAs and now he has three or for majors out here on the Champions TOUR.

So, yeah, he did the right things. Hits the right shots. Hits it fairly straight. Good short game. Makes a lot of putts. He does what he's supposed to do, what a good player, a world class player, you would expect of him.

Q. If I told you Thursday that you would finish Sunday at under six for your first U.S. Open here at Scioto in these conditions, what would've said?

GEORGE McNEILL: I would've said I'll sit on the couch and watch and I'll take it. I did not expect this. On Thursday I said I just hope I play good enough to make the cut. Obviously I played fairly well on Thursday and Friday and then kind of held on through the weekend.

So, again, there is a lot of things I need to work on, but for that finish and to finish where I did, I'm pretty pleased with it.
