Quote Quotes

Q. Seemed like kind of with both matches you got up early and kind of kept the lead from there. What was working well for your game today?

CLARE CONNOLLY: The driver. The driver was really kind of shaping well off the tee box, and after the first couple days of stroke played, struggled the second round of stroke play, so honestly fairways and greens. If you can hit a fairway out here and a green out here and avoid the bunkers, two-putt par, if you get a birdie, it's a bonus. That's kind of the way to play it, especially out here, and keeping the ball below the hole is definitely key.

Q. In this last match were there some key holes that you won that stick out?

CLARE CONNOLLY: Yeah, 14, the par-3. Yeah, I was above the hole left and I chipped in for birdie, and then I had a birdie on 15.

Q. How far was the chip would you say?

CLARE CONNOLLY: Chip-in, right off the back, so probably 15, 20 yards, which was ideal. But honestly, it was just keeping it steady. Like I said, fairways, greens, a little miss in a bunker somewhere, it can really just change the flow of things. I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

Q. What's the mindset going into tomorrow? You've played in a number of USGA championships so you know match play and you know how to get --

CLARE CONNOLLY: Yeah, absolutely. It's the same thing. Keep it as simple as possible. Don't change what I've been doing. There's some par-5s out here that are gettable. Just literally keep it simple, keep it in play, and when you have a wedge in your hand, you can attack these pins. That's key.
