Q. So you fought back at the end there. Just walk me through those last couple holes.
TARYN WALKER: Yeah, was 3-down going into 15 and knew I had to I had to birdie 15. Been playing that hole pretty bad all week, so got it to about eight feet and was able to make the birdie putt to get to 2.
She kind of had a missed shot on 16 and I had a good saved shot on the greens so I par'd, so 1-down.
17 I didn't hit a very good tee shot and then I got up and down. Made about a ten-footer for par, which was a big putt, because she had six-footer for birdie that she happened to miss.
Last hole I set myself up. We said we have to go for it right over the pin. Just missed it just out the right, so, you know...
Q. It was a heck of a shot in there.
TARYN WALKER: Thanks.
Q. How far did you have?
TARYN WALKER: 98 yards.
Q. Nice. I also saw the approach on 16. I know she was off to the right, but you stuck that pretty close, too. How close was that?
TARYN WALKER: Yeah, I would say I was probably 18 to 20 feet back up the hill.
Q. Nice. What are the takeaways from the week? This is your first USGA championship in a while, right, since the '07 Women's Open?
TARYN WALKER: Yeah, right. Just got my amateur status back in December and am kind of kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Haven't really played a whole lot of competitive golf in the last ten year, just a few local things.
I'm eager to get back and I'm so excited that I secured my spot for next year. I don't have to worry about qualifying and can make plans. It's been an unbelievable week.
Q. Outside of the qualifier for this have you been playing other competitive events?
TARYN WALKER: I played in like a few local things in Kentucky in June and July, you know, just to try to prepare. I didn't have a ton of tournaments but I've been practicing as much as I can with a full-time job and two young kids.
Yeah, I think match play brings out a different side in me. I kind of have a fire when it comes to competition.
I gave it my best go. Kelsey basically didn't miss anything today. She had a hiccups on 9, 10, but other than that, she was hard to beat.
