Quick Quotes

Q. We're here with Jonathan Snyder. Jonathan, can you talk us through your round out there today?

JONATHAN SNYDER: Well, it was some tough conditions. I hit a lot of fairways, but with all the rain we had a couple of days ago, you weren't getting much roll-out out there. It made the second shots that much further.

But again, you've got two more rounds out there, so go work on some things on the chipping green and we'll get back out there tomorrow.

Q. Two more rounds, but today was the opening one. How does it feel to be a part of the first ever playing of this championship?

JONATHAN SNYDER: It's an honor. I can't sum it up any other way. This is a historical event. Just to be a part of it, I feel like a winner already. There's still the competitive spirit that wants to continue to do our best out there. Didn't quite have my best out there today, but I feel like tomorrow is a new day.

Q. How rewarding is it to share the course with so many other inspiring athletes?

JONATHAN SNYDER: Well, I mentioned that just a little while ago. To see Mariano play out of a cart all day long and some of the challenges he had to overcome while we were out there on the course, I mean, it's inspiring. It's inspiring.

Q. You mentioned on that first tee that feeling. What were some of the emotions you were feeling?

JONATHAN SNYDER: I guess fulfillment. There's a lot of people that have been working on this event for a long, long time, and to have it come to fruition, again, fulfillment, joy. It was such an honor to be able to hit that first tee shot off of No. 10 in this event. Yeah, a lot of joy, a lot of fulfillment.

Q. Being that you're a North Carolinian, what does it mean to be here in Pinehurst, to have this first playing of this?

JONATHAN SNYDER: I can sum that up in one word, too: Home. It feels like home. It was great support from all the volunteers and all the spectators that were coming around all day. I got a lot of love from the North Carolina folks today, and I really appreciated it.

Q. How do you think this championship will help amplify those in the adaptive community?

JONATHAN SNYDER: Again, hopefully it's going to inspire others to get out here and play golf. That's really what it's about. We want to showcase all the different types of abilities and all the different ways you can play the game. It's inspiring.
