Douglas Shirakura

Quick Quotes

Q. Tell me about your round.

DOUGLAS SHIRAKURA: Round was pretty good, very solid. I think there were some issues with some club decisions, given kind of the wind kind of picking up throughout the round and dying down. There were some difficult decisions to make out there on the course, but overall I think I just fought through it and tried to fight for every shot that I could get.

Q. How do you shift your focus going into tomorrow's final round? First two have been very much celebratory, but tomorrow is the final day.

DOUGLAS SHIRAKURA: Yeah, tomorrow is the final day. I haven't really had a chance to look at the leaderboard yet, but I think that I'll be somewhere within -- it'll be kind of like a Hail Mary, but anything is possible in golf. I don't give up, and I'm just going to try and go low tomorrow. That's just the mindset I have.

Q. We've talked about this a lot. This is the inaugural event. It's been extremely special. Is there any particular one moment that's stood out to you throughout the championship?

DOUGLAS SHIRAKURA: I think the best moment I had was seeing Pinehurst No. 6 for the first time, just coming off the hotel shuttle bus and just looking at what they had lined up for us, not only on top of the players' tents but the range and the putting greens and the volunteers all over the place. I mean, it made me feel really special, and it honestly felt like a Tour event. I was just really excited. I think that was one of the most special moments so far.
