Q. All right, Laura, nice way to start off this week at the Dana Open, first round 67. What was working so well on this bogey-free round?
LAURA WEARN: I was really solid over putts inside ten feet, and honestly, I'm pretty surprised because I've been struggling leading up to this.
I'm really excited to start well, and hopefully I can keep thing going tomorrow. I kept it in play off the tee and made a few putts, so, yeah, hopefully that will continue tomorrow.
Q. I know there are some changes in yardages from this event. First time for you at this event. In general, how is the course playing for and you how does it fit your game?
LAURA WEARN: Yeah, I like it. It's a great course. You need some of everything. I felt like I had a lot of short to mid-irons in, so hopefully I can hit it a little closer tomorrow and make it a little easier on myself.
I was really happy with how everything went.
Q. Right before the majors you had a 66 on the final day of the Meijer LPGA Classic. When did things start to click? Have you been trying to keep that momentum going through these couple weeks?
LAURA WEARN: Yeah, I feel like that was kind of the one-off. It's been a struggle so it's nice to see a couple good rounds coming out, and hopefully I can get more of them.
I just need to keep getting confident and keep hitting good shots.
Q. What is it specifically that you're working on to see a round like this come to fruition?
LAURA WEARN: I mean, everything. The ball striking, I usually don't struggle as much with the ball striking, but it's been a challenge recently. Haven't been hitting it as solid.
It was nice to hit some shots today that felt really good and see that my work is starting to pay off.
Q. You got someone like T on the bag, a vet out here with someone like Amy Olson. Just what does her experience also lend to a tournament like this?
LAURA WEARN: Oh, it's great. We just met this week but she's a easy to chat with, funny. It's just nice. Like I trust everything she says. She has just been really helpful with the yardages and even reading putts.
She's been great, yeah.
Q. What will you take from something like today as you head into tomorrow?
LAURA WEARN: It'll give me confidence that I can get the ball in the hole and can have a good round out here. And so, yeah, hopefully work on a few things and then keep it going tomorrow.
Q. This tournament specifically is one that we've seen in years past that has jump started a lot of people, even midway through the season. Do you feel like this could be that opportunity for you as well?
LAURA WEARN: Yeah, I hope so. This is only my fourth event so I'm still getting used to everything. Hopefully I can just post a few more low numbers, get things going.
