Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Mary Lui, first interview of the day. Lots of birdies out there today. Was a good round. Tell me a little bit about the round today.

MARY LIU: Yeah, this course is so pretty and the course condition is so good and the greens really fast, so with my putting I just do all my best and keep the ball rolling and hit the driver on the range and then do the other course management that I already talked to my caddie and talked to my coach before.

We just keep our goal and keep it easy.

Q. It seemed like a good day. Can you just tell me about how your game is feeling. I know you didn't make the cut last time you played. How is your game feeling overall?

MARY LIU: I feel so lucky to be on the LPGA Tour. I think this is my 11th tournament on the LPGA, and I learn new thing every single week.

So even I made the cut or miss the cut, I always do something that's positive. Just keep going. I know be a rookie is tough. It's not easy to win the tournament because everyone here is so great.

Q. You mentioned being a rookie, so this is your first time playing here at the Dana Open. What have you sort of been learning about each course as you play, having to learn a brand new course each week as a rookie, maybe to practice, learn the course before you get out there and play?

MARY LIU: I think before I learn the course I learn myself right now, because I realize that everyone here, they work really hard. They have great team to push them up and then you have to focus on yourself and how to play the tournament and how traveling.

I think that's the part I focusing right now. I'm not focusing on how to play the course, but I'm focusing on what did I do? Am a trusting myself? Am I do my best? Am I talk to caddie all the positive thought?

Q. I have one more. You've won on the CLPGA before. How has your experience playing and being successful in China translated over here?

MARY LIU: Yeah, it's big step for me. The two tournament I win my mom always with me. I feel really lucky. I think she's the best support and all my family supports me really, really well coming from China and go play Japan tour and Epson Tour last year.

I can't do this without my family and all the people who support me and they believe me. I'm on the LPGA. They think I deserve on the LPGA. They just trust me so much and I say, okay, let's have a try and see what's going on.

So I'm here. I'm really proud of them and proud of myself.
