LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT:
Q. All right, here with Lindsey Weaver-Wright after her first round at the Ford championship. 4-under, bogey-free today. Just talk about your round and how great it was to be back here.
LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, it was a lot less stressful than I anticipated. I didn't really know what to expect honestly. Obviously I've been at home practicing and whatnot, but it's so different when you come out for a tournament and you're playing under adrenaline and the pressure again.
So didn't really know what to expect. Yeah, just happy to have done what did I and shoot 4-under and hit all 14 fairways, so that was good, because I got a new driver in the bag recently.
So happy with it.
Q. What's the new driver that you got?
LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Upgraded to the Ping 10k. It's basically the same head but just a 10k.
Q. Any way you think it's helping you on this course?
LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: The fairways here are really wide so it's not overall very challenging to hit the fairways.
But, yeah, it's definitely way more accurate.
Q. 14 out of 14 fairways, so that helped. First round back as a mom. To do what you did, that's impressive. I don't care who you are. How good did that feel to play that good of golf knowing from a body and mental perspective of having a child, getting your body back in order, running a half marathon, and now playing golf?
LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, it's kind of a whirlwind honestly. Like I said, I didn't really know what to expect, so I just went into the whole week with very little expectation.
Yeah, got a lot going on in my mind right now. Yeah, Crew was just -- it's so funny just getting his texts from daycare, updates after the round. I just love it. My husband is updating me and he gets all the notifications too.
It was nice having him there for my first round as well. So he walked with me for the back nine and worked this morning.
Yeah, nice to have him here and have his support too.
Q. Was there anything in your game that you were maybe a little bit surprised to still have? I know you worked your butt off to get back here. Anything that was still kind of there?
LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, honestly the distance is very similar to what I was before I got pregnant, so kind of surprising. We are here in Arizona so obviously the ball travels a little bit further. Before I left home I was within like five yards and Zach, my husband keeps telling me you're hitting it the same yardage. I keep saying, I have my conservative club collection and my prideful club selection.
So more prideful club selection today and back to my normal pre-pregnancy distances, so that's kind of surprising. I know it's really mixed reviews with girls saying sometimes you never get it back and you just lose a lot of power, core stability and whatnot.
Yeah, I was talking to the physio yesterday and I was like, I feel like it's weird, something is wrong, because everything has been quite easy. I was like, I hear so much about the pelvic floor and some girls have back problems. He's like, some people just handle pregnancy really well. You might just be one of those. I guess I got lucky. So far so good, so I'll take it.
