Q. All right, here with Lexi Thompson. A nice way to finish off today. Overall, what was going so well on the second day here at Walmart?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, got off to a pretty hot start with the three birdies in the first three holes. Kind of fizzled and had a little bit of a struggle on a few of those holes, but nice to finish off the way I did with birdie and eagle.
Just tried to stay patient and confident and know birdies are out there as long as you hit the fairway, and that's what I did.
Q. Going low here is kind of imperative based on past events here. Getting the eagle on 7, walk me through that hole.
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, very important. Coming out here, especially it wasn't as windy today, but you still have to make a lot birdies because it's playing fairly soft, so you have to go and pin seek.
That hole I hit a good drive. It's kind of a funky tee ball, so I was happy I got it in the fairway and actually gave myself a good angle to that green. Hit a 3-wood up to about 25 feet and rolled the putt in, so very happy with it.
Q. What's it like to come back here? This has been a hallmark of the LPGA Tour for the last 18 years, the way they've embraced our tour. In general what's it like to come back to this community?
LEXI THOMPSON: It's amazing. It's always so much fun to come back to Arkansas. The fans are unbelievable. Even yesterday being the first day there were so many fans, especially little kids, too. That's what we want to see.
How Arkansas really gets behind the LPGA Tour and supports us and however we can support them, that's what it's all about. We're always happy to come back and play this golf course in front of the amazing fans.
Q. If I remember correctly, you had a little friend out there with you yesterday. I remember seeing her over the last couple years at our Dow event.
LEXI THOMPSON: Yep.
Q. What was it like to see Nora?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, it was incredible. I didn't know she was going to be out here. She got me before I started warming up and I'm like, oh, my gosh. She has a tournament this weekend and could only make it out for yesterday.
It was just great to see her. She is such a great player to begin with, but her whole family and herself, just nice people, good, genuine people.
Yeah, it was quite the surprise.
Just made my so happy to just start my day.
Q. Before I let you go, Ally Ewing at the beginning of this week saying she was also going to be stepping away after the 2024 season. After spending so much time with her during Solheim and everything else, what does it mean to see one else take the path you're taking?
LEXI THOMPSON: It means a lot to me just that she's going on her own path and journey of happiness. She's such an incredible player and just even more importantly an incredible person that's been a great friend to me out here and we've shared some really special moments of just kind words. I consider her one of my good friends out here and sharing the Solheim moments together, especially last week, it was special.
She deserves it. She deserves every bit of happiness, and I know a lot fans out here really do love her.
Q. Going back to tomorrow, one last day here. What will you take from the last two days as we rev up the engines for tomorrow?
LEXI THOMPSON: That I need to make some more birdies tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be good tomorrow, so go out there, free swing and fire at the pins and hope for the best, make a lot of birdies.
Other than that, hopefully a lot of fans come out and support us and that's what it's all about.
