Quick Quotes

Q. Well done today, we spoke yesterday, was it a big surprise for you?

LYDIA HALL: Yes, it's been a really rough kind of nine months for me. This time last year I was injured coming into the tournament, which is obviously a massive shame coming into this and going into the British Open and that injury slowed me down for the rest of the season.

I feel a lot better now and yeah, my driving at the start of the year was terrible, didn't know where it was going to go and saw the Callaway guys this week and they the weekend a couple things and I'm feeling more confident off the tee that. Helps when you're playing in these kind of conditions.

Q. Tell me the injury.

LYDIA HALL: It was in my back, a lot of driving, actually, was the main cause, driving up here, drove up as well-to-do the commentary for BBC at St Andrews. A lot of driving and mileage doing The Open commentary. Little things like that.

Q. You weren't at The Open?

LYDIA HALL: No, I wasn't, but I would have loved to have been there again.

Q. Is it as simplistic as putting the ball in play?

LYDIA HALL: Yeah, and she did a really good job of putting me in the right spots. That's the key around here, you have to miss in the right spots to give yourself a chance, making sure you're not above or below the hole. Lots of spots that you need to know short right here is good and we get two putts and that's what he did. He kept me focused on one shot at a time and that was the key.

I've played here heaps, loads of times, and we said, I think it's one of those courses that you get to like a lot more that you play it. It's obviously a modern links and very soft, so it's a little different. You have the wind but the greens are so soft that you don't have to bump-and-run any shot. It's flight it to any pin really.

Q. Talk about being 33 and a golfaholic.

LYDIA HALL: I love the game and I love my job. We are very lucky to be outdoing what we're doing but I played my final round with ash. We were going head-to-head and it's great to see her push on but yeah, it's great to see people that I haven't seen in a long time.

I'm 35 and coming to the latter part of my career but deep down the reason why we do it is we know we can compete and perform on these bigger weeks, and that's why we keep doing it. Nice to get a result finally.
