Linn Grant

Quick Quotes

Q. Linn, very solid start, first two days here in Scotland, a round of 3-under today. Talk me through.

LINN GRANT: A bit easier today than yesterday, at least for the first nine. And played really good. Hit the ball really well. And obviously I had Steven, I had my coach here the first couple days, so I feel like we really went through some good work.

Kind of hoped for another couple putts to roll in, but that's the greens out here. Otherwise, solid round.

Q. What specifically have you been working on around this course?

LINN GRANT: Just really being comfortable here in those kind of half shots, keeping the ball a bit lower, teeing it up, like lower on the drives and also hitting some bump-and-run shots.

Q. And does Mikey's expertise help when on the links? Is he from up north?

LINN GRANT: Yeah, it does. I mean, there's a lot of conversations, especially about the wind. It helps to have someone, you know, that knows the wind and that is comfortable with giving you advice.

Q. And it looks like the weather might not be as good into the next couple of days. How do you prepare for that situation?

LINN GRANT: A lot of -- again, a lot of patience, is the word. Just go out, you know, people are going to struggle, so will probably I. But bogeys are made and just kind of keep going and even though you make some mistakes, it's common out there, I think it will be.

Q. Given your Scottish connection, how exciting is it to be in contention in the Scottish Open?

LINN GRANT: It's fun. I mean, especially since I missed the cut last year, my goal was to make it into the weekend. And it's hard coming off of a normal couple weeks and then coming here straightaway. So my goal was really to be in it on the first day and know what I was getting myself into.

Q. Yeah, you didn't think there was many people going to come down, the busses might be flooding down the road over the next couple of days.

LINN GRANT: Might get one of those "I knew your grandfather."

Q. That's something that you're proud of, is it not? I mean, obviously Swedish, but, I mean, that connection, just nice thing to have.

LINN GRANT: Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, anyone who knew anything about anyone in my family, I'm grateful to hear.

Q. Steve, is he coming next week, or is he going home now?

LINN GRANT: No, just for this week.

Q. And was there anything in particular that you're working on, or is it just more of the same?

LINN GRANT: I mean, I wanted him to come for this week just because it's so different.

Q. Right.

LINN GRANT: And then also I felt like playing the last couple weeks helped. I didn't quite have my A game last week in terms of shots. So we really worked on that for the past two days, and it's way better than it was.

Q. You played traditional links courses over the years. How do you feel the test is here compared to some of the courses you've played at?

LINN GRANT: I mean, it's tough. The wind makes it really tough. I think it is softer this year than it was last year, which both easier and not -- not easy, but I think if you're playing well, you're going to score well out here.

You're never going to get one of those -- I think it's a fair links. You're never getting one of those like really terrible bounces, or if you're hitting them in the fairway, they're going to stay in the fairway.

Q. The greens are a wee bit funkier than some of the courses. And this course, for example, maybe --

LINN GRANT: Yeah, but there's still like -- I would say they're fair. Yeah.
