Quick Quotes

Q. You made it look easy but I guess it didn't feel like it out there. How do you reflect on your victory.

LAUREN COUGHLIN: It's kind of unbelievable. Two in three weeks is pretty crazy, or three events.

But I just kind of stuck in there, tried to stay as present as I could, and got some putts to drop at the end.

Q. We talked yesterday about mental toughness, early on today, you ran into some trouble but you fought back so brilliantly, didn't you. I mean, those birdies, those come back birdies really sealed the victory.

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I mean, I felt like I just kind of hit a couple bad 3-putts there, and then just kind of unlucky getting in that bunker on two. But other than that, I played super solid all four days and just kind of tried to let the wind do what it did and try to not fight it too much and I was able to just hit the ball where I was trying to most of the time and good distance and then make some putts.

Q. And it wasn't just about the birdies. There was some absolutely brilliant par saves out there, weren't there. They were almost as good as the birdies in many ways?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, those are always like really good momentum. Keep the momentum going. Especially the one on 15 was huge. A bit unlucky. As soon as I hit the tee shot on 16, I was like, man, that really needs to sit, and then again just kind of unlucky where tended up but I hit a great pitch shot and was able to keep it going.

Q. Every win is special, but I guess to win on a links course in the home of golf in Scotland, I mean, that must be something you're proud that you've done?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: No, absolutely. I really struggled in the wind up until last year when I came to this event, and it's something that I've struggled with.

But I've started to kind of get figured out and a lot of it is just trying to not fight it too much and let the wind do what it needs to do and trust it as much as you can.

Q. Can you believe what's happening to you right now in your career? Are you sometimes pinching yourself to think this is a dream but this is reality and this is you at the moment?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: If you would have told me, let alone beginning of this year, but beginning of last year, I wouldn't believe this is what I've done and it's incredible. It just how hard I've worked to get here, and it's amazing.

Q. I guess it shows to others in your situation, just never give up because your time will come if you just keep believing.

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, absolutely. I think that's kind of what I've done my whole career, not even just professionally but in college and junior golf, kind of pretty much I wasn't really recruited coming out of junior golf. I walked on at University of Virginia and just kind of tried to get better every year, and that's what I've been trying to keep doing.
