Q. Here with Hannah Green after her first round. First question is: I want you to think back to your win in 2019. Is there anything different out here, unexpected for you maybe from the year that you won?
HANNAH GREEN: No, I don't think so. I didn't get off to the best start. I actually bogeyed the third hole today and then I bounced back and made a nice putt on the next hole.
So I guess just remembering putts that I've made while I've played other championships other years, it's just nice to have those fond memories.
Luckily I have more fond than I do bad, so hopefully I can just ride that more the rest of the week.
Q. Yeah, that first bogey, after that you had just a string of birdies in a row. Just tell me how you sort of picked yourself up and what you learned from maybe that one bad shot that you took with you?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I didn't even feel like I hit a bad stroke, so I guess just making sure that I don't get too upset.
I think it's pretty easy to do that here at Columbia. Yeah, made a nice putt so the hole felt a lot bigger, and then hit some good shots in and made some close putts.
So I think I felt most confident on the greens than I have in quite some time, so not sure if that's just because I'm reading them better and seeing them go in, or just from what I remember from previous years.
Q. I know. You said earlier this week that the green reading has been maybe a challenge for you. Glad you feel better about that. I heard the greens were trickier today than the rest of the week.
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah.
Q. How do you manage that?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I felt like they were definitely quicker than probably the practice greens. I guess as soon as you have a downhill putt you can't be too aggressive, and some of the holes got a little bit firm and probably released a little bit more than what players would've expected.
So it was kind of nice to also learn off what the others were going as well during the round.
Q. Right. What are you looking to take into tomorrow after today?
HANNAH GREEN: Just keep the momentum. Unfortunately made a bogey on the last, but don't want to dwell on that. I guess I didn't hit a great shot, but I also got unlucky where I finished up.
Yeah, just keep the momentum. Only missed two greens today, so I can't be too down on myself. Yeah, just keep giving myself opportunities, and, yeah, hopefully continue to hole those putts.
Q. I know it's the first day, but does being in the lead mean anything to you at this point in time or change any game plans at all?
HANNAH GREEN: I guess it just makes me sleep better at night. You know, I think the scoring will be rather low. I could honestly see the winning score at the end of the week be in the 20s.
I just got to continue to do what I'm doing and not get caught up in it too much. Yeah, I'm pretty happy to be in this spot.
