Q. Eight birdies, just two bogeys today; a nice 66. Beautiful birdie at the last hole, which gave you the lead for at least the morning. Tell me what was really working really for you? What clicked today?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I think my putting was really good. Eight birdies is always really nice on this golf course. I really like the place. I feel like I'm playing good. I will say my putting was the best today.
Q. You had a week off last week after a tied for 10 finish at the Dana Open, and also your coach was out here early in the week. What kind of things have you been working on to stay sharp?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, to be honest, we are not working that much. I mean, I've been with my coach for seven years, Jorge Parada; the backswing a little bit more inside, but nothing really too much.
I mean, I just love this place. I love playing here. I like the pine trees, the area. The grass is very similar to back home in Spain.
I always enjoy playing at this golf course.
Q. Speaking of Spain, we talked earlier out on the golf course. A big win at the U.S. Open. You're a tennis aficionado. Your thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz and what he brings to the game.
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think he's amazing. He reminds me a bit of Rafa when was younger. Very quick, very powerful, lots of passion, like all the Spanish people. It's a lot fun to watch his play.
Obviously I love Rafa, but I think it's going to be nice when he retires to have Carlos. I think he's going to be at the top for a lock time.
Q. Certainly nice to see young talent like that. And speaking of Spain, also next year Solheim Cup for the first time in your home country. I can't even imagine what that's like for you.
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, that will be amazing. Of course I want to make the team and I just hope that everyone enjoys Spain. I think it's a beautiful country. It's a great golf course. I've been there a couple months ago and it's just -- I mean, people are really excited.
Yeah, I would love to play, and obviously to win that Cup in Spain would be unbelievable.
