Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Nanna, solid performance here in Portland. What was working so well for you on day one, even with the varying conditions and rain levels?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I had a lot of good putts. My iron game was good. I was struggling a lot from tee, so hopefully I can figure that out for tomorrow.

Q. What were some of the most memorable putts out there?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Made a long one after the bogey on 13, so on 14 I made a good one.

On 11 I made a long one as well.

Then I just made a couple good ones in the beginning to not be too many over par.

Q. When it's not, as you said, working off the tee for you, what do you do when it comes to your iron game? Do you put more emphasis on that knowing tat maybe it's not going to land where you want off the tee?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: No. I've been working on a safe driver, so it gets me in play; it just doesn't get me far or anything. So it's working a little better, but obviously I would like to figure out the good drive again.

But, yeah, just try and hit the fairway. Doesn't matter how far it goes.

Q. What is it about this course that suits your eye when maybe not all elements are there?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I'm not even sure this course suits my eye too well. I have never played very well here. I was really happy with the score today, and hopefully I can do something similar tomorrow.

Q. T32 last week at CPKC Women's Open. Do you feel like you're kind of finding the rhythm of getting back in the swing of things?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I'm definitely getting more confident in my game besides my driver, and now having a driver I can just get in play helps me.

But, yeah, I still need to find some confidence with the driver.

Q. Does that mean work on the range? Work with your coach? Is that what you've been prioritizing lately?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah. Just hitting way too many balls.

Q. I know tomorrow probably the goal is to get the ball in the fairway. What are you thinking about as you head into tomorrow?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah, get the ball in play. If I do that, I can definitely make a good score out there. It's very scorable if you find the fairways. So, yeah. That's probably the main goal for tomorrow.
