Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Polly Mack after her first round of the Portland Classic. 9-under today. Just talk about how you performed out there with the 9-under round.

POLLY MACK: Obviously I would say pretty flawless round. It seemed so easy out there today. Very nice start and that just kept me pretty calm I would say.

Never really thought about it as a whole. Made some good putts. Just didn't make big mistakes or if I hit some bad shots I got myself out of it pretty good. Got some good numbers with my caddie.

Yeah, overall, just seemed like very flawless, good round. (Laughter.)

Q. No bogeys on the scorecard today. Was there any times you remember getting close to that, grinding out a par?

POLLY MACK: For sure. For example 18, my No. 9 today, I was under the trees on the left. Had to kind of punch it out, try get it into the right green bunker.

Didn't quite get there, but had a really good angle and made a really good up and down there. That could have been a bogey basically.

Yeah, made some good up and downs. On 3 I was in the left rough -- no, 2 sorry. 2, made that chip-in, so that was kind of a nice save.

Q. You'll take it.

POLLY MACK: Yes, some good saves.

Q. I've seen you posting a lot about working really hard in the last few weeks. How nice is it to see a number like that after some of that work you've been putting in?

POLLY MACK: It feels so good. Feels like I've been working for almost years for this kind of stuff to happen. Just finally to see a result on the scorecard, not just in the game, on the course, but also seeing it written down is really, really nice.

I'm sure my team behind me is as happy as I am right now. With this one round.

Q. You talked about counting planes today out there with your caddie. We paused a few times for the planes. How many did you get up to and was there any airline you saw the most of?

POLLY MACK: I think you would have to ask my caddie. She was keeping track of it, obviously she being the caddie. It was a lot of Alaskan Airlines was the most. Yeah, we were counting separately for each airline and we were kind of doing a guessing game. Because of the high trees we would be like, well, we hear one; which one is it?

Kept a little mindset between shots of golf, so that was nice.

Q. Whose idea was it?

POLLY MACK: Honestly both of us. I'm going to say kind of crazy, so.
