Q. Here with Clariss after her second round at the Portland Classic. 6-under today. You're playing great so far?
CLARISS GUCE: Thank you.
Q. Talk about how it's felt the past two days.
CLARISS GUCE: It's been fun. Definitely just trying to make sure that I play confidently out there.
But the putter is rolling really well. Makes my job a little easier, so hopefully keep that going for the weekend.
Q. What do you like most about this course? You're obviously playing it very well.
CLARISS GUCE: Yeah, one thing I kept talking about earlier in the week and I couldn't get over, the massive -- like the visual, the massive trees.
So I think I don't really see that. It's really pretty, and whenever I want time to kill I just keep looking at the trees and marvel like how pretty it is down the tree line; just don't go in it.
Q. Yeah, kind of embracing it it sounds like a little bit.
CLARISS GUCE: Yeah.
Q. You've been playing on the LPGA and Epson this year.
CLARISS GUCE: Yeah.
Q. Fourth LPGA start. Just talk about how excited you are to make the weekend.
CLARISS GUCE: Yeah, definitely. Kind of been a rough going there in the beginning of the year, and finally finding a driver that kind of puts me into play, and feel a lot more confident about it. Definitely I feel like better feeling into the rest of the season.
Q. And not the only Epson player that's playing very well this week. Just talk about Epson tournaments and how it's prepped you.
CLARISS GUCE: Yeah, definitely tough out there, and I think playing in Epson, it trains you to do very well in like shootouts.
I feel like out there if you want to keep up with the leaders you always have to prepare to be like, there is a minus-10 up on the board, and it's not surprising when you see that on the board out there.
So just making sure that you stay patient and you get your opportunities when you can get there. Yeah, and develop that mentality that you have to get another one because somebody else is.
Q. Yeah. Obviously a goal might have been to make the weekend. Anything moving forward now that you secured your spot for the weekend?
CLARISS GUCE: Just trying to stick to the process and just have a lot of fun out there. I had a really cool group the first two days because I got to play with a really good friend.
Then me and my caddie just kind of keeping good vibes and making sure that I stay positive out there. Regardless if I hit a good shot or bad shot, it's just making sure that I have more of a positive mindset out there.
Q. And who is that good friend?
CLARISS GUCE: Becca Huffer.
Q. Awesome. How was the friendship started? Any back story?
CLARISS GUCE: I think it's just we ended up getting to play together a lot out on Epson. You know, travel together a little bit out on Epson. Now it's just comfortable playing together.
