Q. All right, Brooke, bogey-free day today. Just what is it about this course that you feel most comfortable?
BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, I've had really great finishes the last two years, and that was really exciting, so I was really looking forward to coming back here. Today was a great start. Birdied the first hole, and that always helps you settle in a little bit.
It was fun. I was just trying to make as many birdies as I could. No bogeys on card, so that's also a bonus. Hopefully tomorrow can go out and continue similar game plan, try and make some birdies, and see what happens.
Q. Coming back from the major in Pine Needles this past week, what was it like preparing for this week at Seaview? This is more a low-key vibe as maybe compared to the U.S. Women's Open.
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, you know, there is definitely some slopes out here, but compared to last week you're not as terrified. Last week you were kind of scared on every shot.
This week you really got to watch out for the slopes, but not as severe. So that made it a little bit more comfortable out here. But it is a challenging golf course, especially when the wind picks up.
You just got to be careful, hit it in good places.
Q. Couple birdies there, especially on your back nine, which is the front nine this week. What is it about those holes?
BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, I think I gave myself a lot of really good looks all day. I hit a lot of greens and had a lot of birdie putts. Those few holes I was able to capitalize on them; few others I wish I would've gotten today, so hopefully get them tomorrow.
Overall feel like I'm hitting it well and the putter is working, so that's always nice.
Q. What do you take away from your game at the major championship as we get more into the summer swing of events? I feel like I talk with you about it all the time, but you are one of those that likes to play as many as possible. As you get your feet on the ground, what are you focusing on in an event like this?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I had a lot of time off before the U.S. Women's Open. Coming in there, just being able to play the weekend and then make a big climb up the leaderboard on the weekend was a lot of fun for me.
So I started slow but finished pretty hot with the T15 and was happy and excited with that. You know, I have Meijer next week, which I'm a big fan of, and then KPMG the week after.
So it's a great stretch for me right now and hopefully I can just play well.
Q. How much did taking that time away and then coming back for U.S. Women's Open help rejuvenate your game do you feel?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I definitely needed some time away to kind of figure some things out. I feel like going back to Canada was a big help. I feel like I'm in a better place and feeling healthier.
Just, yeah, excited and grateful to be back out here. Hopefully make a ton more birdies.
Q. Definitely some weather in the forecast for tomorrow. What's the mindset as you prepare for the second day?
BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, this course you kind of have to be prepared for it all. You know, the wind can really get gusty and then in different conditions it can play completely different.
So it's good to have a good caddie and hopefully we can figure it out tomorrow and just play our best in those conditions.
