Q. All right, I'm here with Jenny Shin; 6-under today. How did it feel out there?
JENNY SHIN: Felt great. Bogey-free rounds are always very happy rounds. (Smiling.)
I dropped the putts when I needed to and I hit some good shots coming into the par-5s and gave myself really good opportunities for birdie.
So, yeah, good round overall.
Q. Yeah, sounds like you maximized your day out there. Also one of the best rounds this year for you. How did it feel out there?
JENNY SHIN: No wind helped. You know, having that fresh green in the morning helped a lot. You know, poa annua in the afternoon, I was able to tell in the last five holes they were getting real bumpy.
Yeah, looking forward to tomorrow.
Q. You were playing pretty welcoming into this event. What has been going right with your game lately and how much confidence did you have coming in here?
JENNY SHIN: Just overall everything has gotten significantly better in the past five years. I mean, compared to the past five years. I feel like putting, short game, you know, the mentality over the ball, getting around the golf course. The whole, you know, general part of the game I feel like I'm getting better.
And like you said, I've had some decent rounds this year, and that helped my confidence go up a little bit.
Q. And the second hole here is one of the toughest holes on the course. You birdied it today. Take us through that, and how much confidence did that give you getting a birdie on that tough hole so early?
JENNY SHIN: I got pretty lucky there. Hit a good tee shot. Hit my second shot. Tucked it a little bit left he. Got a good bounce. Went over the green. Made a long putt off the green.
Yeah, it's one of those days, right? You get lucky bounces and you make some long putts, and that was one of the holes.
Q. I noticed I think you went back-to-back, like all your the birdies were back-to-back. Is that just a coincidence or a confidence, one leading to another?
JENNY SHIN: I think a lot of the back-to-backs were the par-5s where I can reach them in two, so I wouldn't say it's just purely confidence. It was just hitting good shots into the par-5s.
And I had a really good eagle putt on the third hole, so I'm more bummed about not getting the eagle there, so...
Q. You're going to be either the leader or close to the top of the leaderboard heading into tomorrow. What's the mindset? It's only a 54-hole event. You have to get off to a good start. What's the mindset going into tomorrow basically?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah, like you said, three-day event. First day is pretty crucial, and I think I did that part right.
Tomorrow is going to be a battle with the wind, so nothing changes. Going to keep everything pretty simple.
Yeah, I mean, it's still 36 holes. Long way to go.
