Q. All right, here with Lexi Thompson after her final round here at the CME Group Tour Championship. I know lots of emotions right now. Nine fairways today, nine greens, seeing your family there, what's it like to be finished here for full time on the LPGA Tour?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, it was very emotional. Really wasn't until I got to No. 9 for some reason. Kind of all hit me.
Yeah, it's just always a special week regardless if it was my last tournament as a full time schedule or not. I always have so much family and friends and the fans are unbelievable here.
It's kind of a home town event being from Florida so always held a special place in my heart. Yeah, it's a memory that I'll always cherish forever, always coming here. It's not the game that I wanted to play, but there is more important things.
Q. I know you have a great support system out here with you today. What was it like seeing your family, Max, your friends out there giving you some flowers out there?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, it's incredible. I'm truly blessed to have the people around me that I do, whether it's family, friends, loved ones. Just everybody. I am just so grateful every day I have them because I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them.
Q. I know it's been an emotional year since you made the announcement. Was this the first time you let yourself feel a lot of what you're feeling right now?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. I think ever since I was super young I have held a lot in, and just -- sorry.
No, I've held a lot in. I think as athletes you're always told to be strong and be intimidating on the golf course. Don't show any sign the weakness.
I did it for a while, and it's just, you know, it's gotten to me sometimes. It's hard. It's not just me, it's everybody that goes through a lot of things. It's just a matter of how much you're willing to hold in and let people in on your emotions.
Yeah, it's kind of like the time I'm actually letting myself feel those emotions and actually be real.
Q. You're beloved by pretty much everyone that's been around you on the LPGA and the fans. I heard them chanting for you on 8, which I know brought a smile to your face. For you to leave the legacy that you clearly left on the LPGA, what does that mean?
LEXI THOMPSON: It means more to me than anything. Of course the wins, you know, got me to what I am, the accomplishments and everything, but I wanted to leave a bigger impact as a role model, somebody who gave back to the game, somebody who made an impact on little girls and boys out here getting started in the game at a young age.
Showing the way I give back to the people and the sponsors and everything, there is more important things than just playing good golf.
Q. What was it like to share that walk with your brother today? What did that mean to you?
LEXI THOMPSON: It was very special. It was a tough week in general. I've been struggling with my game is bit, so just been kind of tinkering here and there trying to find it.
I'm just so blessed that I was able to have Nick by my side to have that walk through, even though it was really hard on him sometimes just trying to find good golf. I wouldn't want anybody else by my side.
Q. Did you have any flashbacks out there while you were playing or this morning when you woke up reflecting on this incredible career you've had?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, I mean, I've thought about it just over the years. We always think back to the good moments and the wins and moments we'll cherish for the rest of our lives.
Really the more important thing is the time I get to spend with my loved ones.
Q. You'll be back here in a few weeks.
LEXI THOMPSON: I will. I know. I know. I'm like, I'm not going anywhere, guys. I'll be back in two weeks.
Q. Will you take a little bit of time off or back to grind mode?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, I will take a few days off because of Thanksgiving and just to shut it down a little bit and give my mind a reset.
I'm sure I'll be right back into it at the end of this week and going into next week just trying to get ready for Grant Thornton.
