Q. Well, Michelle you survived the first round of the season here at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. 1-under 72. Overall looked like you had a lot of the fun out there. What was it like?
MICHELLE WIE WEST: It was a lot of fun. I mean, I got to play with my friends today, and there is no better way to start 2022.
Q. So Marina was right, this is a place you have to come?
MICHELLE WIE WEST: Yeah, she was right.
Q. Tell us the story of your round. Lots of birdies; handful of bogeys but still under par for the day. What are your takeaways from the round?
MICHELLE WIE WEST: Yeah, I couldn't get my wedges close today. Made a couple stupid errors early on, but overall I'm very proud of how I played today.
Hopefully more birdies to come.
Q. You made, what, six starts last year, so when you jump back into the competitive arena is it harder physically or mentally?
MICHELLE WIE WEST: Mentally for sure. With adrenaline you can do it physically. Definitely playing last year helped. I think when I came back last year, the last round before that was almost two years before that, that was hard.
But I definitely leaned on my experience of playing last year and kind of carried that today, which really helped.
Q. What were the highlights of that three-birdie run you had early in the back?
MICHELLE WIE WEST: I don't know. I think all of them are equally as good. Just felt good to see them roll in, hit the shots that I wanted to hit.
So, yeah, making birdies out here is always fun.
Q. You've gone through a warmup in a tournament round. Does your post-round change for you now?
MICHELLE WIE WEST: Oh, I'm laying straight in bed. Starting Archive 81 today. That's what I'm doing.
