Q. Alongside Danielle Kang. You have got a win in this event, runner-up finish, never finished outside of the top 20. What is it behind your success in this even year after year?
DANIELLE KANG: I think there is only like 30 people here. Jokes aside, I really like the golf course. It's a really true testament to golf game. You have to hit it good off the tee. Have good short game. As you saw, my little chunk on the last hole.
But it's just fun for me to hang out with my friends and different athletes. Been a good day.
Q. You finally, as you said, got paired with one of your good friends today, Marcus Allen. Derek Lowe was also part of that group. What was the atmosphere like?
DANIELLE KANG: I played with Derek Lowe so many times. We won together two years ago. He's a hoot to play with. He outdrives me by about 200 yards honestly.
Marcus, I'm so happy to be playing with him or was happy to be playing with him today. He's literally like my uncle. He's my family. Known him for 18 years. We were counting how long we've known each other.
To be able to actually play in a competitive golf round, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to look back and say, I got play with my Uncle Marcus at a golf tournament, opening season of 2024.
It was really memorable today.
Q. Yeah, fun way to start the year. First competitive round now in the books. How would you assess where your game is as you're beginning a new season?
DANIELLE KANG: Obviously I put up a good score today. For me, Lake Nona, shooting 68, solid, made a few birdies out there. I know I made some mistakes here and there, but it's just golf. Sometimes you're just going to miss-hit it. Sometimes you're going to make wrong decisions.
Coming out of the gate playing pretty solid, posting a good score, just gives me good momentum into tomorrow.
