Q. Here with Asterisk Talley after her final round at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. Can you just tell us about the week, the experience that you had this week?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, it was great. Just getting to play with people that like everybody knows, you know, playing with celebrities, pros, it was just a great week. It was a good learning experience and I had a lot of fun.
Q. Congratulations on the win, by the way.
ASTERISK TALLEY: Thank you.
Q. Were you surprised to play so well or was it a little expected to come out on top in the amateur division?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I didn't really know what to expect for the amateur division, but I was kind of surprised that I played so well at a tough course. It was hard out there. It's a tight course, really long on some holes, so I was really surprised.
But I set high expectations for myself so I was really happy to play well.
Q. What was the most interesting tidbit you learned about you're playing partners this week when you Googled them? I'm sure you Googled them.
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, just like how great they were, what they've done in your career and how they can be so good at golf. Someone who played like Aaron Hicks on the MLB and is still playing basketball and still so good at golf. I don't how you can be so good at everything. Sure.
Q. Did you look at the celebrity leaderboard to see how you would've stacked up since you're playing from the same tees?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I was curious to see how everyone was doing. I was happy to be playing so well, so...
Q. What part of your game are you most satisfied with this week?
ASTERISK TALLEY: My driver was really good the first couple days. I had some problems today, but overall it's been great. I've hit almost every fairway. I think I hit every fairway in the first round, so that was great.
And then I kind of fixed my putting after the second round. I started putting well yesterday and today so it really helped me.
Q. Are you doing schoolwork at night? How is that working out?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I've done a little bit. Not all of it, but I've been trying to keep up with it so hopefully I'm good for tomorrow.
Q. What do you have tomorrow? Are you going to school tomorrow? You'll get back on time?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I'm flying out tonight and going to school in the morning.
Q. Will you get in tonight?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah. Yeah.
Q. What time does school start?
ASTERISK TALLEY: 8:00 a.m.
Q. How. Good thing you're young.
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah. It's going to you be tough, but...
Q. I know you probably got a busy year ahead of tournaments with the AJGA. How cool is it to start your year here alongside the pros and celebs?
ASTERISK TALLEY: It's great. Getting some LPGA experience beside the pros and starting my AJGA career this year with a win was great to put me into this tournament.
It's been a great experience overall that I'm starting the year well and hope that continues.
Q. Can I get some background on you, how old you are, what grade you're in, where you're from, most importantly, when you started playing golf and when it was something that really hooked you?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I'm 15 right now; 16 in two weeks.
Q. Happy birthday.
ASTERISK TALLEY: I'm a sophomore in high school. Started golf when I was like three so been playing my whole life. My dad got me into it. I used to go out with him to the golf course to hang out and then he was like, pretty soon like if you're going to come out then you have to start playing golf. You got to do something.
So I was like, yeah, I'll just start playing it and it stuck with me.
Q. Where you from?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Chowchilla, California. It's near Fresno. Central California.
Q. Have you been to Florida before?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I was here just like a week and a half ago for a junior event, and then I've been here quite a bit. They put a lot of the junior tournaments. In play. It's hot. Unpredictable but usually fine weather.
But I probably been out here six or seven times.
