Quick Quotes

Q. Joined by Bronte Law after a solid performance, 2-under par in the second round of the 2022 Gainbridge LPGA. You had four birdies on the scorecard, one double. Start with that one. How did you rebound to savor a solid day?

BRONTE LAW: Yeah, just had an uncharacteristic missed shot. Ended up behind a tree, had to chip out, then had a bit of a mudball, and then didn't make up and down.

Yeah, unfortunate hole. Just told myself I hadn't really hit a bad shot up to that point so just forget about it really. You know, carry on doing what you've been doing. I did just that.

So pleased that I could be mentally strong and hold myself together, because at times like that it can often lead to more bogeys or, you know, a couple other dropped shots.

But, yeah, just happy with how I held it together. It wasn't easy out there today. Wasn't that many birdie opportunities with the greens being a little bumpy in the afternoons. Hit a couple in really tight which was nice to see, so benefitted from those massively.

But overall, yeah, pretty pleased with how I played today.

Q. How much can you rely on that mentality of kind of staying strong after a misfortunate hole like you did today, with like you said, the bumpy greens, the conditions a little more challenging than yesterday? And then especially looking at the forecast for tomorrow and perhaps over the weekend, how can you maybe dip back into that mentality throughout the next couple days were?

BRONTE LAW: Yeah I think it's everything, isn't it? We play this game and it's hugely all about the mental side, how well you can channel that into good golf.

I'm pleased with how I'm hitting it, so gained a lot of confidence out there today. Obviously confidence breeds good mental like kind of headspace, so just hoping that my performance the last couple days will help me tomorrow when it sounds like it's going to be British weather.

Q. You didn't want to fly here to just come back to home, but imagine kind of similar conditions to winter in England.

BRONTE LAW: Yeah.

Q. Knowing that, does that benefit you a little bit?

BRONTE LAW: I don't think anyone enjoys playing in that. Yeah, the fact that I've done it growing up a lot obviously it's just like another day.

I wouldn't say that it would bother me too much, but certainly a couple shots that I've practiced growing up that will definitely help me out there.

Q. You mentioned the challenge of the course but also the conditions today. How much more challenging was the course because of the conditions?

BRONTE LAW: Yeah, I think there was a couple pin positions which meant with the wind direction being where it was, it made it a lot more challenging to get the ball in close, so obviously your birdie opportunities are then a lot fewer.

Any mistakes could be costly. The key out there is being consistent right now and taking your chances when you get them. I certainly doubt it will be any different tomorrow.

Q. Entering a new season, new year, do you have any New Year's resolutions entering the year on or off the course?

BRONTE LAW: Yeah, to be kinder to myself. I think I'm my biggest critic, and when someone else says something I'm not too bothered about it, but I'm so harsh on myself.

Really trying to focus on the good stuff that I've done on the day and not dwell too much on anything that I didn't like.

Yeah, just having like that good headspace and treating myself how I would want to treat someone else. So if I was caddieing for someone else I would treat them a lot nicer than I would treat myself in the past, so kind of trying to channel that and imagine what caddie Bronte would say to myself.

Q. Well, lots of positives over the last couple days to carry into the weekend. Good luck.

BRONTE LAW: Thank you.
