Q. Patty, thank you so much for taking the time with us. You started off 1 and just do you mind talking us through your round. Seemed like you had a lot the action on the front nine and then it kind of slowed down on the back nine.
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It did. I've been hitting solid shots for the whole day today but I left a couple putts out there. I couldn't really read the greens right.
But overall I hit a lot of the good strokes and I'm just going to keep doing that. Eventually they'll drop this weekend. Hopefully.
Q. From last week do you think any part of your game has changed or is it really just strong these two weeks?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I did. I actually hit one clutch shot today, which was my goal coming into this week, to hit more shots. I didn't really hit my clutch shots last week. I just played the ball right to left, straight right to left.
But this week, you know, it's a little hard to seek the pin, so I positioned myself well and I decided to hit this one clutch shot in there and it's really nice.
Q. How is it just still being in contention coming straight off last week when you were in contention basically the entire time, too?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It feels nice to have a solid game at the start of the season. Even though there is a lot of golf left, anything could happen. I'm just going to keep pedaling down and play smart - not conservative but smart - and take the chance when I have to.
Other than that, just keep hitting good shots and the course will open up.
Q. And, I mean, you're just 21. How do you feel sometimes just balancing both golf and then also your young life?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I kept having dreams of me actually finishing school online, so I don't know, maybe that's a sign. I think deep down I somehow wanted to do that.
But I've just been wanting to focus on my early career, so I don't know. We'll see. It's a little bit boring just only golf and work out.
But I have new hobbies here and there. I started learning calligraphy last year.
Q. How is that going?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It's good. I've been writing my boyfriend some cards and everyone a lot of cards, thank you cards and stuff to show appreciation. It's been fun.
Q. Do you like to draw? I feel like you're very artistic.
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I like to like lettering and calligraphy basically. Just like decorate and make it look nice.
Q. My last question is what are you looking forward to doing this weekend?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Hit more good shots, execute well, and, you know, just keep hitting good, solid rolls on the putting green and eventually they'll drop.
