Jin YOung Ko

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Jin Young Ko, lovely to see you here at the LOTTE Championship. First appearance since 2019. Stellar bogey-free day. How do you assess your second day here in Hawai'i?

JIN YOUNG KO: Yeah, I had a lot of birdies yesterday and then bogeys also, but I really happy to finish 2-under yesterday in the windy.

Yeah, I tried to play no bogey-free round because windy. I play in the morning but it has pretty windy in the morning.

Yeah, I'm happy to back in Hawai'i. It's been like over five or six years. I need to use this wind.

Q. In general, what do you focus on in your golf game when the conditions are like this wind?

JIN YOUNG KO: I mean, last couple or last like five or six months I struggled with my swing, so I didn't hit much like many fairways, even like greens as well.

I feel like I really want to get win this year and hopefully continue the last seven or eight years, but I know I have only like two events left, this one and last, CME.

So I just want to focus myself. If I win I could like be like crying, but if not, it's okay. Still okay. I have a good season in 2024 and I'm looking forward next season already.

Yeah.

Q. What do you do to not let that pressure of winning kind of influence your mind when you're playing out there?

JIN YOUNG KO: I mean, just I hopefully. Like hopefully to continue to win like seven or eight years, but golf is a lot of like ups and downs I had; everybody does.

So I just want to don't think about to win. I just want to think about right now at this moment. Just shot by shot and just having fun with my caddie and players and see what happens goes.

Q. And speaking of shot by shot, three birdies on the card. Which one stands out the most to you?

JIN YOUNG KO: I mean, these greens are really, really hard to read the break, so I just need to be patient. Like if I hit really, really good putt but if not going in, I had to like accept, okay, this is not my fault. This is like greens are like bumpy or like so gritty, their grain is.

Yeah, just accept and to be patient, and then be like better playing next hole and next hole.

Q. What do you want to take from these past two days moving to the final 36 holes?

JIN YOUNG KO: Nothing. Just new day on the weekend.
