Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Lauren Hartlage after the second round at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship. A little bit of a slow start on your front, but very much turned it around. Bogey-free I think four birdies. Just what went into the round today?

LAUREN HARTLAGE: Yeah, I definitely got off to a slow start. Bogeyed the first hole and then I was 3-over on the front nine, so I just had to stay patient.

The conditions are good in the morning so I knew the next nine holes, the front nine, plays a little bit easier I think and there are some opportunities there.

So just rolled in a few putts and brought my round back together, yeah.

Q. How do you not let the bogeys kind of compound your round and maybe negatively impact how you play? How do you not let that happen to be able to turn it around?

LAUREN HARTLAGE: Yeah, I've been playing well. I had a bad swing on a par-3. Made a double and I just kind of knew, you know, it's just one shot. That doesn't mean the rest of my round is going to be ruined from that one shot.

So I kept that mindset, stayed that moment, and just kept focusing on what the shot I had next was.

Q. How does this course bring out some of your strengths and what are the more tricky parts of the course?

LAUREN HARTLAGE: I think it's really important to hit the fairways out here because the greens can get firm, especially with the wind. Just being smart with your club choices into the gree, giving yourself some good leaves and giving yourself those birdie opportunities.

Q. Yesterday I think you were in the second-to-last group to finish.

LAUREN HARTLAGE: Very last group.

Q. So even better. You're making your way up the leaderboard. Are you watching where you're moving up to or you still just focus on the golf in front of and you wherever you end up you end up?

LAUREN HARTLAGE: Yeah, just kind of focusing on the golf because the afternoon is more windy, so I knew it was going to play tougher in the afternoon.

Again, got off to a slow start yesterday and had four birdies coming in on the back nine, so just kind of I don't really like to try and place myself on the leaderboard. Just kind of staying patient and looking at a good opportunity, taking advantage of the par-5s coming in.

Q. Last one: What do you think it's going to take to keep you towards the top and maybe push you over the top and do it?

LAUREN HARTLAGE: Yeah, I think for me staying really patient the next couple days, because it looks like the weather is going to get worse and pretty windy.

So just not getting ahead of myself and just staying more in the moment. Having my caddie there to keep me calm and comfortable.
