Caroline Masson

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Caroline, what a way to bounce back after the opening bogey there. Take me through the first couple holes there.

CAROLINE MASSON: Yeah, obviously not great to start with the bogey on a par-5, gettable par-5, but it's just good to bounce back. I think that's what always keeps your rounds going, and I did that.

I kind of -- I wasn't too nervous. It wasn't that. Just settled me and I said, Okay, back to zero and let's just play some golf.

Yeah, my goal was to be patient and not to get frustrated if things don't go my way, and I think I did that today.

Q. What did you see there on No. 3? You were able to eliminate the bogey in the beginning with the birdie.

CAROLINE MASSON: Yeah, I mean, it's just the name of the game. It's what you need to do to shoot good rounds is take your opportunities when you get them and save a couple like when it's not going your way or when you hit a bad shot.

I kind of did that today again.

Q. Towards the end of the round there being able to battle back after that the bogey on 15 to close with three birdies in a row, what was going through your mind?

CAROLINE MASSON: Yeah, obviously a frustrating bogey on 15. We decided not to go for it with the pin in the back and rely on our wedge game. I didn't hit a terrible shot, it just went a bit far and stayed long. I basically three-putted from the fringe.

So it can happen. I felt if I get lucky that ball spins back and I have a birdie opportunity. But, yeah, frustrating to bogey that one with everybody probably birdieing it.

Like I took it in a good way though and tried to bounce back again. I hit a great shot on the next, and, yeah, made a good birdie on 17 and then had a great chance for eagle on 18 which I didn't make, but overall a great finish.

Q. How much confidence do you have in your game after what we were able to see in Singapore and these three rounds here in Thailand?

CAROLINE MASSON: Yeah, just the confidence that it's sold. It's not perfect. I do hit bad shots, but I just try to be comfortable and have a good attitude. I think that's key for me, to keep it light, talk to my caddie, the other players.

It's been a fun three days, so I just want to keep that going.

Q. Was he able to give any pep talk after a bogey or two?

CAROLINE MASSON: I didn't need a pep talk. It's about not getting too frustrated and too upset and talking bad to myself, and I think it's more me than him being able to change that.

So, yeah, it's just overall keeping it light and not getting too tense out there, so he's doing a good job with that.

Q. What do you think it'll take tomorrow? You're in contention here. We've seen you in contention over the last few years. What do you think it'll take to be able to walk away at the top of the leaderboard?

CAROLINE MASSON: It'll take another great round. I haven't had a chance to look at the leaderboard, but I'm sure it's packed. Anybody can go low around here. The course is playing soft, it's gettable, you can get it close, fire at the pins.

Yeah, for me to have a chance to win I have to keep doing that and keep making putts and birdies and try to go as low as I can.
