Celine Boutier

Quick Quotes

Q. Celine, first round 65. Whole bunch of birdies out there; just one bogey. How is the course playing today?

CELINE BOUTIER: I thought it was pretty good. I just feel like I gave myself a lot of birdie chances and then my putting was really good today.

So definitely felt like it was playing a bit easier, but I feel like the course is a little bit softer I think than last year, so it's a little bit easier to be more aggressive on the approach shots.

Q. Okay. Looking at your scores. Opened birdie, bogey, so even after two, but then a bunch of birdies out there. What was dialed in for you today?

CELINE BOUTIER: I think my irons were really good and was able to hit it close a lot of times, and then my putting helped me a lot. I feel like every time I had a chance I was able to make it a lot of times, so it was definitely helpful.

Q. What was the longest birdie putt you had today?

CELINE BOUTIER: My 18, which was 9. I think I made like 45 feet.

Q. Oh, nice. That's always got to be a good feeling to see that one fall in.

CELINE BOUTIER: Oh, yeah, for sure. I was just trying to, you know, get the pace right because it was all downhill and it was kind of a tricky one, the whole breaker.

But then when I just saw like it kept going closer and closer I'm like, oh, my God, go in. It was nice.

Q. Awesome. So we're on day whatever of all of this heat. How are you holding up with this? How are you managing to keep up mentally and physically?

CELINE BOUTIER: I actually was mentally prepared for the heat to be pretty high, so I actually feel like so far it hasn't been too bad.

But I definitely try to find as much shade as I can and stay hydrated, because you can definitely, you know, get dehydrated pretty fast here.

Q. You're of Thai heritage, correct?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah.

Q. Do you still have family over here?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yes. I have some of my uncles and my grandma, and my parents and my sister came for the week.

Q. Oh, nice.

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, so I have few of my family members here.

Q. That's got to be a good feeling.

CELINE BOUTIER: Oh, yeah for sure.

Any time I have the chance to come back to Thailand I really enjoy coming back. Having my parents and my sister here is even better.

Q. So would you come back here sometimes as a kid to see family?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yes. We would come back like every summer.

Q. Oh, nice.

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, for like three, four weeks.

Q. What part of Thailand, what area?

CELINE BOUTIER: Bangkok and Chiang Mai, which is a little bit more north.
