Q. First round 64. That's a good way to start a tournament. Bogey-free as well. How do you feel you played today?
XIYU LIN: I'm very happy with the bogey-free first because that always a bonus. It's a good sign of solid play, and I think if I remember correctly, also hit 18 greens, which is another really big accomplishment for myself.
Yeah, I mean, I know this course is definitely very doable and lots of opportunities, and then today the conditions pretty good. Like didn't get really, really hot.
And I have a good pairing. Play with Yu Liu. Haven't played with her for a long time. This is actually the fourth round in a row I can have a Mandarin speaking player playing with me. So I really enjoyed it.
Then on top of it, like good round of golf, like really good.
Q. So if you hit all 18 greens, that means your short game was working so well this week, today.
XIYU LIN: Yes. I think last week I was a little bit -- trying a little bit too hard at the beginning, so have lots of things going through my head.
Finally at the last round I kind of had my head around again, like thinking more smart, more of the -- you know, more of the strategy over the technique.
And I think that kind of tried to carry over to here. I mean, the green is narrow, but like the fairway is wide, so you have lots of chance hitting off the fairway so that makes it a little bit easier.
Q. Uh-huh. So when you woke up this morning when you were practicing, were you feeling this good about your game today?
XIYU LIN: I always know on this course you can go low and you probably have to go low in this tournament, so I just keep telling myself, you know, when I have an opportunity I need to go for it.
And then especially the par-5s, they're all really like attackable, and then you have to be really aggressive on it. I'm pretty happy like the whole -- like it go by plan.
