Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Nanna, you just got your first win. First Danish player to win on the LPGA Tour. Tell me how you're feeling right now.

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It's amazing. It's a dream come true. It was a crazy day; a lot of good things. It was actually fun playing the playoff with Janet at the end. I'm really excited to be standing with the trophy right now.

Q. I want to take you back to the 72nd hole. Unfortunately the bogey there and then followed with the birdie from Janet. What happened there on the approach and what was going through your mind?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I thought it was the right club, but obviously got a flier from that lie. I still thought I had a good chance of making up and down, but then ended up being a bogey.

That's what happens. It's golf. I'm just very proud that I went into the playoff and finished up with a birdie and an eagle, yeah.

Q. Was your heart in your throat when you saw Janet's chip on the first playoff hole?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah, I mean, Janet, she really fought. She finished up birdie-birdie, so she played amazing, too. Yes, I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous there.

Q. About how long was your putt there on the first playoff hole?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It was 17 meters.

Q. Okay. And then the second playoff hole, how much did you have for eagle and what was in your mind as you saw hers come in so close?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah, she did a very good chip there, and so I knew I had to make that otherwise we had to go in another playoff hole.

We had a good lie and we thought -- we had a good like and I was just excited to see that ball drop.

Q. How much did you and Janet playoff each other today? You both had some great rounds to come down to the end.

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah, well, I got off to a really hot start and was leading with four after just a couple holes played.

Q. Right, (indiscernible) with the eagle.

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yes, eagle and birdie. But then Janet played some very solid holes from there and there was only one shot between us after 7.

I made some good birdies after that, and then Janet picked me off again. We were back and forth. I always had the lead but she was getting close, and then at the end we were tied for the lead.

But it was exciting day playing against her.

Q. Your total score, 26-under, broke the tournament scoring record. Did you feel you had that in you come into this week?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I mean, I would not say that I was counting on winning this week at all. I'm usually not very good when the greens are a little slower, so I'm very excited how I performed this week.

Q. And then finally, who are some of the golfers you looked up to when you were a kid, and what does it mean to put your name with some of theirs?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Obviously I look back to some of the Scandinavians, Suzann Petersen, Annika, those players, amazing players.

I mean, they've done so well in their careers. I'm not sure I'm going to get an Annika career. No one really is. But I'm very excited about this tournament. I'm sure it will be more to come.
