Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Jenny, welcome back to Thailand. How are you feeling after stepping away from the first day?

JENNY SHIN: Bit of a disappointing back nine, but feel pretty good about my game. I'll take 5-under.

Q. A lot of birdies on the card still for you, especially on the front nine. What was working so well in the first couple holes?

JENNY SHIN: Putted well. Drained a lot of putts in the first seven holes. You know, that's always helpful when you can putt well.

Q. What was the most memorable birdie for you?

JENNY SHIN: I don't remember. At all actually. Yeah, I'm pretty heated right now, so...

Q. I was going to say, just talking about coming back to Thailand, you have been in this event many times. What's it like to be back here in front of these fans and back at a course that suits you well?

JENNY SHIN: Yeah, 13 years; long time. I'm really happy to be back here after all those years. Yeah, it feels like home. That's what I said when I first stepped foot on the golf course on Monday. I was like, wow, it's like I never left and feels great.

Q. First event of the year, correct?

JENNY SHIN: Technically no because I played the Sydney event, Webex Series in Australia a few weeks back. Yes, first LPGA event.

Q. What was it like getting that as your primer for this year on the LPGA?

JENNY SHIN: Finished second. Was leading the golf tournament until obviously Sunday. Shot 5-udner and wasn't good enough. I learned a lot from that tournament, and it was a very different environment where I played against men, so it was a good eye opener.

Q. What did you learn? You say you take some things away. Was it just being in contention?

JENNY SHIN: Probably. Being aware of what I do under pressure in a very important situation. I've only had a handful of those last year, so to feel that again, like at my first event, it was pretty good.

Q. What did you specifically work on coming into the Asia Swing of events?

JENNY SHIN: Nothing in particular. Just kept the process the same. Worked last year. I feel like it's the best year I've had on the LPGA Tour since I've been on tour, so I kept I have thing pretty similar.

Q. Were you able to reflect on a good 2023?

JENNY SHIN: Yes and no. I didn't know I finished 30th or whatever I finished until my caddie told me a couple days ago, to be honest.

I think the year prior to that I didn't get into CME and that was very shocking for me. That really motivated me to stay in the game a little bit, throughout the year a bit more sharp, and, yeah, I hope I can continue doing that this year.

Q. What do you take from today as you head into tomorrow?

JENNY SHIN: Considering I didn't have my A-game, I am very happy, and hopefully I can play better tomorrow.
