Brooke Henderson

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Bogey-Free Brooke as I just said, but how are you feeling after day one here in Thailand?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it was sort of -- kind of a slow start, six pars in a row, but was nice to get a birdie on 7 and another one on 9 to make the turn at 2-under.

I was just trying to continue to try to make some birdies on the back nine and climb up the leaderboard a little bit, so definitely happy to finish with one on 18. To get my minus-5, no bogeys definitely feels good.

Q. Walk me through the last hole. To be able to finish with a birdie, how did that make you feel?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, if you hit a good tee shot you can get there in two. That was definitely the goal. The have pin was in a really tough position back there on that back ledge, so didn't hit the best chip, but was able to recover with a great putt.

Yeah, to finish off with a birdie just makes the whole day feel a little bit better. Hopefully go into tomorrow with a little bit of momentum.

Q. What were you working on going into a week like this?

BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, I love playing here in Thailand and in Singapore next week, two of my favorite events on tour. I just love the atmosphere and the energy and just everything these two weeks bring.

You know, I was just coming over here to try to make some birdies and try to get some top finishes.

Q. What maybe clicked for you after the six pars do you think?

BROOKE HENDERSON: I think just kind of settled in. It's been a little bit since I last played competitively. Bradenton, I guess three weeks almost. Just took a little bit to get back into the competitive mindset and settle in.

Q. What did you do with the three weeks off? Were you grinding or able to put the clubs down for a little bit?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Went back to Canada for a week so that was really fun. Went skating and was able to see family. It was really nice.

Then back to Florida, back to the grind, back to practicing and trying to get ready.

Q. The heat here is always a huge storyline and is going to be like that at Singapore as well. What do you do differently to prepare yourself to stay consistent out there knowing that this is a something that we don't have in the States?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it's very hot, very humid. It was windy today which is kind of unusual for here, but the breeze was kind of nice to keep us cooler. I'm not complaining.

I think just taking it one shot at a time and try not to lose focus, especially down the stretch when you kind of need it.

Q. I know the rough is a little longer than maybe past years and the greens are the greens, but what are you taking away from today as you head into round two?

BROOKE HENDERSON: A lot of good things. I feel like I was hitting the ball really well and made some good putts. That's always a nice feeling.

At this golf course has I think always suited me pretty well. Definitely a ball-strikers course. So hopefully keep the irons hot and just make a climb the next few days.
