Q. Isi Gabsa, 4-under 67 in round one of the Volunteers of America Classic. Solid showing. First round on the LPGA.
ISI GABSA: It is.
Q. How did it feel to put that number together out here?
ISI GABSA: It feels pretty good. I been playing Symetra Tour this season, and just coming out and enjoying LPGA again and playing on a good course, it's just a lot of fun, and just trying to enjoy it, try to give it the best.
Q. You have not missed cut in ten starts.
ISI GABSA: Yes.
Q. On the Symetra Tour. If I look back at your stats on the LPGA last year, you played five events last year and didn't miss a cut.
ISI GABSA: Yep.
Q. So safe to say you're finding some good golf. What would you say your game is at to consistently be finding the weekend?
ISI GABSA: My pitching got very good over the off-season. I been working on that quite a while now, for like the past two, three years now, so that got pretty good.
And then just overall my ball striking is just there and feeling comfortable. Competing out here, competing on Symetra Tour, just gives a little bit more boost to like just compete.
Q. When you can make the weekend and consistently be doing that even though it might not be top 10s, it's playing competitive golf at the highest level week in and week out. Does that give you some confidence to where you know you can come out here and put a number like you did on the scorecard and be near the top of the leaderboard?
ISI GABSA: For sure. It always helps if you -- if your game feels good, then you like know that you can be up there if your game is good. So definitely helps if you're coming out here and compete.
Q. You had birdies today on Nos. 6, 9, 10, 12, and 17.
ISI GABSA: Yes.
Q. Any one of those in it particular stand out as maybe helping get you going today?
ISI GABSA: I was struggling a little bit at the beginning, was not hitting it as good. And then I made a good putt on 9 that was a little bit longer, and that kind of gave me the boost for the back nine to hit good shot on 10 to like four feet and make that birdie.
Then it kind of got into it and just played on from there.
Q. What were some goals you had entering 2021 with status on both tours? When you entered the year, what did you have in this mind that you wanted to accomplish?
ISI GABSA: I would like to get my full card back on the LPGA again. That was one big goal. Maybe one win on Symetra Tour would be great. That was like the two goals I set for me this year, yeah.
Q. How did the week at Prasco last week prepare you to come out here?
ISI GABSA: I didn't play well at all in Prasco. The course is a little bit different. The greens are huge, so you just have to putt from everywhere.
But just playing in general, I just need couple of tournaments in a row to get into it, and then as soon as I have those couple events I feel comfortable and just go from there.
Q. You played on the tour your rookie year was 2019 and you played this event with a tied for 60th finish. What did you learn when you played Old American Golf Club, and what did you learn about the course and how you translated that into this week?
ISI GABSA: I still remember all the lines from my caddie from like two years ago, where to go. Most of the time like middle of the green is not a bad place to be, but like most of the par-3s, so you can putt from the middle of the green is a pretty good chance to go for there.
Yeah, that's about it.
Q. How does Isi Gabsa beat the Texas heat?
ISI GABSA: Drink a lot of water. I don't know if I'm doing good right now.
Q. Well go get hydrated. Thanks, Isi.
ISI GABSA: Thank you.
