Quick Quotes

Q. Joined by In Gee Chun. 7-under 64 on day one of the Volunteers of America Classic. Bogey-free. In Gee, I imagine you're pretty proud of a bogey-free performance, especially with how warm it is out here.

IN GEE CHUN: Yeah, I'm so happy to make bogey-free round today. Before tournament I sleep at my house so I feel like it's not a tournament week, so a little worried if I could make the good focus during the tournament.

But I'm so glad I made a bogey-free round and a good score today, yeah.

Q. Is it extra exciting to be able to go home to your own bed tonight not terribly far to go and somewhere you know to go home to?

IN GEE CHUN: For sure it is. Feel comfortable to staying in the house, and it's the first time to be like home during the tournament week and playing like tournament.

So it feel a little different, but it's really good. Yeah.

Q. Something that you can get used to.

IN GEE CHUN: Yep. You know, my neighbors and friends and my uncle is here. They come here to watch my play. It's so happy.

So, yeah, I'm so happy to play with my fans and my friends and my neighbors here, yeah.

Q. Your neighbors, did you just get to know them when you moved down here or had you known them previously?

IN GEE CHUN: No, we play a lot events so normally we are on the road, so my neighbors, they take care about my mailbox and then like all my stuff.

So I'm so like lucky to have like good neighbors, so I really appreciate.

Q. Yeah, that's very nice. And you turned in a great performance for them so I'm sure they enjoyed that. You played here just six months ago in December for the 2020 edition of this tournament. Temperatures were about 60 degrees cooler.

IN GEE CHUN: It feel really big different. We got big wind when we play in December and now so humid and hot and game change a lot.

But for me, like hot weather is better than cold, so I can't complain.

Q. All you have to do is grab a sun umbrella, right?

IN GEE CHUN: Uh-huh.

Q. How much different did the course play today versus in December?

IN GEE CHUN: I think all the player, they have like more distance with like hot weather. Greens are soft and less wind; I think that's why player make low scores.

Q. I was going to ask you too, of the seven winners in this tournament history, three of them have been from the Republic of Korea. Three players from the Republic of Korea lead this tournament after round one today. Is there something about the course that is similar to some courses maybe back home in Korea?

IN GEE CHUN: No, I think it's not the similar.

Q. Just a coincidence?

IN GEE CHUN: Yeah.

Q. Yeah? Okay. What is the game plan moving forward knowing there could be some rain tomorrow, some weather, and just how you continue to attack the course?

IN GEE CHUN: No, I said before start tournament I was a little worry if I could make the focus because I got like different feel. It was not the tournament week.

But I think I start really well, so I want keep going. And then my shots really good, so hopefully I want read the green and make more birdies on the course, and I want to see where I am later.

Q. More birdies is always good. Thanks, In Gee.

IN GEE CHUN: Okay.
