Quick Quotes

Q. Joined by Ana Belac after a fourth consecutive 3-under par 68 to conclude the 2021 Volunteers of America Classic 12-under par overall. Career day, career round for you. To shoot four straight rounds in the 60s, I would imagine that's a first, and then a career best finish, a Top 5 on the LPGA. How does it feel to have put this performance together this week?

ANA BELAC: I'm just really happy right now. You know, I worked so long for this, and just having the chance to compete out here is already like a big step.

But being able to play twice in the second to last group, I'm really proud how I kept my composure. Being a rookie in this position is not probably the easiest thing in the world, so I was just happy how I stayed committed to my game and how it ended up.

Q. Have you ever been able, even maybe back to junior, amateur days, ever strung together four straight rounds like you did here?

ANA BELAC: I don't think so, no. I think that was probably my career best.

Q. What went into that? I know you mentioned a couple missed cuts, and then you show up in The Colony, Texas and you dominate. What did you do maybe mentally or with your game to put this together?

ANA BELAC: I think I just came with a fresh mind. I think I was putting a little bit too much pressure on myself, especially after getting the reshuffle with a better status.

All of a sudden I felt like I had to perform better and better, so that resulted I think in two very poor performances.

But then came out here and I was like, You know what? I'm out here. Let's just enjoy it, see what happens. So I think that proved to be a good strategy.

Q. This will put you well inside the top 100, I want to say Top 80 in the Race to the CME Globe. When you reshuffle and the reset goals and have a performances like this, do you now reassess and reset some goals for the rest of the year?

ANA BELAC: My goal beginning of the season was to make it so I don't have to go back to Q-School, but definitely I think this performance is just a confidence boost more than anything else. Just knowing that I belong out here and proving that to myself and hopefully I can just ride the hot streak now.

Q. For as little or as different of a year on the Symetra Tour and just the LPGA last year as it was, how much did going out on the Symetra Tour help you to kind of maybe build some confidence and groundwork in the professional game?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, I think I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Symetra Tour. Last year I learned so many things. I played in the lead group couple times, went wire to wire for a tournament and ended up winning it.

So I think that just really taught me how to play under pressure and just put me in that position to get comfortable, so I really wouldn't be here probably if it wasn't for that.

Q. Congratulations on a career performance.

ANA BELAC: Thank you.
