Q. Here with Janet Lin. Janet, really solid day today. Few birdies on the card; just one bogey. Walk me through your day out there.
XIYU LIN: I start off the day a little slow today. I struggled to get the good distance control out of the iron at the beginning, and so the first couple holes I didn't give myself any good chances.
And then I short-sided myself on the par-3; caused a bogey.
Then on 17 I think that's a little turning point again because I eagle there yesterday, so I feel really comfortable playing that hole.
I hit another great 3-wood to like maybe 20-footer, and then I left it just left. Then that birdie kind of got me back into the circle, and then the back nine I just play really solid.
Yeah, so overall I think it's really good day.
Q. We were talking about it on the drive over. You're a player that seems to play well when the conditions aren't easy. What is it about harder golf courses or harder conditions that really just frees your game up?
XIYU LIN: I mean, I have lots of confidence in my long game and my driving and my irons, so, yeah, I think in the tougher day I can manage really well to just change the strategy and play little safer.
And recently my putting been pretty hot, too, so even from little further away I can roll in a couple putt, and that always change something.
Q. What's been really finally working in your game? Again, we were talking about it, you've been knocking on the door quite a bit. What's changed in your game maybe this season that you haven't seen in other seasons? You seem really confident.
XIYU LIN: Yeah, confidence. I think that's the biggest thing. I put in the practice and I telling myself -- like I keep telling myself what I have done and what I've been working on, and I'm willing to see the results.
Obviously also trying to chase a win, so I think that just kind of keep pushing me. Even it's not a great day, I'm trying to do something.
Q. Finally, heading into the weekend you're in the mix once again. Like we said, still chasing that win. What's the mindset heading into the weekend?
XIYU LIN: I mean, this course, again, to me, actually when I enter this week I wasn't thinking too much because I think it's a pretty challenging course to me.
So I will do the same. At the tough holes I try to stay patient, and then at the par-5s try to make a little more birdie and try to hit it a little closer and try to roll some putts, yeah.
