Cheyenne Knight

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Cheyenne Knight after her final round here in Texas. You holed the 72-hole course record here and now you've tied the 18-hole course record here. What does that tell us about Cheyenne Knight and this course?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Well, I wasn't making anything putt-wise the first three days. Today they all went in. I made probably like two 45-footers and just like I kind of hit it the same as I did the other days, but today like the putts went in and that's golf.

It was easy today and sometimes it's not easy. Yeah, it's really special to play well here on Sunday and like move up the board. And even though it's not enough, it's good momentum and confidence going forward.

Q. Yeah, it may not be enough for a win but, today definitely Top 10 finish, your third this season. How happy are you with that result?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Good. My dad asked me last night like what kind of my goal was today. My goal was to get it double digits under par, shoot at least 7. It was a hefty goal, but accomplishing that is really special to me, regardless of the finish.

I've had some -- I can take it low, but to keep taking it low is kind of a struggle sometimes. A lot of 3- and 4-unders, but to actually keep it going on the back nine and get to 8 is like -- it's a big confidence builder for me.

Q. Was the course maybe a little easier today? Greens different? Anything different about the course?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: There is like no wind out there, so I think it's a little bit easier. I thought some of the pins were tricky, but like you have the par-5s on the back nine and you got to get through some of the hard holes. But there are definitely like some birdie opportunities.

Q. Last question: I know this is a really special event for you. Past champion and Texas native. How excited were you to play out here today, have a big crowd following, and I hear it's a special day for one of your family members as well.

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, all the days really. So much support and people saying they remember my win. Just a lot of family and friends that came out to watch, and it's my aunt's birthday today and she screams as loud as anyone when I make a birdie.

The walk up 18 and just everyone cheering for me and past champion is just always something so special that I don't take for granted.
