Q. All right, here with Lexi Thompson after her third round at the Ascendant LPGA. Even par score. How good was that score today? I know it was really tricky out there.
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, definitely played a lot more difficult out there. I didn't get off to the best of starts. Seemed to be super windy in the first four, five holes, and then kind of calmed down and came back up here and there.
That's what you get out on that golf course. Happy that I fought back from 2-over and got it back to even.
Overall didn't move much position-wise, so hopefully just go get it tomorrow.
Q. How hard is it to overcome a deficit like that when you're already playing in tricky conditions?
LEXI THOMPSON: Just coming back from being over?
Q. Yeah.
LEXI THOMPSON: Honestly, just not getting too down, making sure that you stay positive and know there are more birdie holes and birdie opportunities out there and just be patient. If you get down it's only going to get worse.
I fought strong and gave myself the birdie opportunities and made a few.
Q. Did you know going into today seeing the wind or anything that it was going to be maybe a harder round?
LEXI THOMPSON: I thought driving here it wasn't supposed to be as windy, but then you went to go putt and I'm like, that's wrong. Ended up being a lot more windy.
I kind of expect that coming here. I expect the wind and everything. It's a matter of just placement golf, play for the bounce-out on the golf course, and really just trusting your lines, especially in the crosswinds.
Q. Watching the broadcast you had a couple really impressive shots. What were some of the top moments out there that maybe helped your momentum?
LEXI THOMPSON: I would say probably my best shot was after my not-so-great shot on 17. Hit a pretty good 30-yard flop shot pitch up to about 12 feet and ended up making birdie.
Yeah, there was a few. Overall just happy with how I committed to my shots out there. There was a few not-so-great shots, but it's golf. I'll focus on the good ones and take that into tomorrow.
Q. Heading into tomorrow, five stroke deficit, is that makeupable on this course? What kind of round do you have to shoot to make up a deficit like that?
LEXI THOMPSON: It's all depending on how you play and then how the leader plays, but I can really just focus on what I can control. This golf course is gettable, but all depends on wind. If to gets super windy pars are better out there, and you've got to take advantage of the shorter holes and make birdies there.
Really all I can do is focus on my game and emotions, and whatever happens and leads me, I'm going to be proud of myself no matter what.
