Q. At the start of the week when you arrived on-site, did you see yourself shooting this kind of number?
LEONA MAGUIRE: No, I mean, it's a tough golf course. You really have to hit a lot of fairways, a lot of greens. I've been playing nice as of late. Things just haven't been quite clicking, and they clicked nicely this morning.
I suppose first arriving it felt like home. It's a lot of the same style of golf course, same weather as home. Got a nice feeling straight away when we arrived on Monday.
Q. Obviously a tremendous amateur career coming from Duke University, No. 1 in the amateur rankings. How has the transition to professional golf been for you?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, obviously there's been a few bumps here and there, kind of finding my feet a little bit better this year. It was nice to have a half a season last year, technically still my rookie year, to figure it out. Symetra Tour was a tremendous help to just get used to professional golf, travel and get used to making cuts and working my way up the leaderboard.
Yeah, getting sort of more comfortable every week, and it was quite a nice feeling today to play with Sei Young and Lydia today. Obviously watched them on TV for quite a while over the years. To find myself in a pairing like that and play well is nice.
Q. Was that a comfortable feeling for you, being there with Lydia?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I mean, we're both at Lake Nona, so I'll play with her from time to time. We're there practicing every day, so we've known each other a long time. Yeah, it was nice. Obviously both of them had great success around this golf course, so hopefully that's rubbing off a little bit on me.
Q. Obviously looking ahead a few months' time, Solheim Cup is looming. Have you given that much thought?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, it's one of those things, I've played two Junior Solheims, had a great time. I love match play, and it's one of those things the better I play, the better chance I have. Just kind of have to keep doing what I'm doing and see what Beany thinks come after British Open.
