Q. Lexi, first off, day one, you already have a crowd following you. Is this what you expected when you came back to this tournament?
LEXI THOMPSON: It's always what I hope for, what we all hope for really, just to see the support out here in Grand Rapids and women's golf. It's just amazing how the community really gets behind this event.
I think the girls really just enjoy coming here.
Q. And we mentioned the wind picks up a little bit on the back nine. Most of your birdies are on the back nine. What were you seeing out there today?
LEXI THOMPSON: Well, it blew about twice this yesterday, so I guess it was fair practice, but just the opposite wind direction.
Yeah, I usually play in wind at home so just tried to stay patient, really just commit to my lines out there, and talk it over with my caddie.
Q. Finishing 4-under, how do you build on that tomorrow and hopefully have a lower score after day two?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, I mean, just take the positives from today. You know, I hit some iffy shots but also hit some really great ones, and felt like I stroked it well.
So just really build off that and take that into tomorrow. Really just get some rest this afternoon, watch some golf, and just chill.
Q. Great save out of sand on 9. Is that the way you want to finish your first day?
LEXI THOMPSON: I mean, a birdie would've been better, but I'll take the par. It's better than a bogey, so, I don't want to be too greedy.
But, yeah, I hit a good bunker shot and was able to save for par.
