Q. When you come into the alternate shot what's the format or the strategy? Stay aggressive? Because you got to make the aggressive. The greens looked slower out there as well.
LYDIA KO: I knew how good Danielle's ball striking is, and especially her iron shots, so I was, Okay, just hit it into a place where she has a shot and doesn't have to hit sideways or anything crazy.
That was my plan and that makes it a little less stressful for me. Having known her for so long I think it puts a little bit less pressure and I'm not like, Oh, my God, I'm so sorry after a bad shot.
I think almost when you're playing in this kind of format I'm taking a little longer because I want to do better for her and just for the team.
Q. Going into tomorrow, you guys are Top 5 in birdies. A little more of an aggressive strategy. Seven birdies today. You've got to be excited going into tomorrow.
DANIELLE KANG: Definitely. Lydia says a lot of -- highly about my ball striking, but it's easy to attack pins when I know she has the short game.
So it's easier to go at pins from short-sided places, and I know how her putting is. We just keep giving ourselves opportunities and like she said, we know each other so long everything was really casual. We hit some good shots. We hit some weird shots. We're just kind of going with the flow, sticking to the game plan, and keep playing the golf ball that's in front of us.
Q. Just real quick, those seven birdies as you guys were just talking about with Jim, what was the mindset as you guys headed into today? Start with you, Danielle.
DANIELLE KANG: I guess just playing golf. We both know each other's golf games and it's just going to be another day and I literally get to play with my sister today, so it was super nice.
And like she said, we want to do better for each other. This is the first time I probably showed up on the golf course on time. Warm up with a lot of time left, didn't weren't to be late. Everything was in order. I was super excited to come out to the golf course today because I'm not just playing for me, I'm playing for Lydia, and that's exciting for me.
Q. Lydia, we saw a couple shimmies on the course today. You shimmied the putt in on that hole. Take us through how much fun it was for you out there.
LYDIA KO: Yeah, you know, like she said, I'm playing with my sister out there, and we have really wanted to do this and play together in the last few years, and just timing and everything kind of didn't work out.
We were going to play together last year, and obviously with everything going on we couldn't play. I was super excited. I think I was like trying to read my putts like more and kind of fire coming out of eyes, because I want to make the putt for her and for the team.
I think normally when you play well, yes, you're happy and excited, but you -- it's like double the excitement and it's four of us out there. So, yeah, we had so much fun and Danielle has been playing so good, so I'm just trying to be there and trying back her up and support her as much as I can.
